COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In 2013, two nine-gallon casks were filled with Buffalo Sweat and a handful of vanilla beans, and were stored in Tallgrass founder Jeff Gill’s office. A few weeks later, Jeff entered his office to find one of casks had exploded, spraying beer all over his office and leaving a hole in the ceiling above his desk shaped exactly like the cork bung used to seal the cask. Thankfully, the other cask did not explode. That night at an event in Wichita, Kansas, the beer was so well-received, it immediately got the call to become the brewery’s winter seasonal.

Can, thanks to Unclemike. Pours dark brown with large creamy beige head, dark chocolate aroma, medium carbonation, mildly bitter dark chocolate taste with a bit of coffee, smooth body, long mocha finish. Nice stout.

Can from Craft Brewed. Pours a deep brown to black with a finger of beige head that dissipates. Big vanilla bean aromas, milk chocolate, light coffee. More vanilla cream, and coffee on the palate, some dark cacao. Sweet but not overly so. Very surprised by this one.

Smells like roasted malt. Looks like a stout should look. Tastes like a wonderful chocolate, coffee, vanilla bean milkshake. Feels creamy yet light and effervescent. This is my favorite easy drinking stout. One of my favorite beers. See Xocoveza if you prefer a challenge.

Pours midnight brown with a fine tan head. Aroma is vanilla and chocolate. Flavour backs it up with delicious roastiness. Body is wonderfully thin. Finish is roast and vanilla.

Pours a very dark brown color. Mocha colored head, poor retention, no lacing.

Aroma is vanilla, light, but up front and prominent. Light coffee, coffee creamer, raisins. Brownies. Some malts, but not too much.

Taste follows the nose. Quite delicious. Coffee, brownies, raisins, vanilla.

Mouthfeel is medium light. Thin and watery. Has some grittiness, which makes me think vanilla bean ice cream. Maybe that’s not it, but it works. Smooth and creamy.

Overall, pretty tasty. A slight nudge better than the original. Very enjoyable. Yes, I recommend it and I would buy again.
