COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In 2013, two nine-gallon casks were filled with Buffalo Sweat and a handful of vanilla beans, and were stored in Tallgrass founder Jeff Gill’s office. A few weeks later, Jeff entered his office to find one of casks had exploded, spraying beer all over his office and leaving a hole in the ceiling above his desk shaped exactly like the cork bung used to seal the cask. Thankfully, the other cask did not explode. That night at an event in Wichita, Kansas, the beer was so well-received, it immediately got the call to become the brewery’s winter seasonal.

12 ounce can into pint glass, best before 5/12/2017. Pours clear very dark brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big milk chocolate, cocoa, creamed coffee, vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted brown bread, light nuttiness/herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and vanilla/lactose notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk chocolate, cocoa, creamed coffee, vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted brown bread, light nuttiness/herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, creamed coffee, vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted brown bread, light nuttiness/herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and vanilla/lactose flavors; with a nice roasted bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Minimal dryness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and slightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is awesome. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a delicious milk stout! All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and vanilla/lactose flavors; very smooth and easy to drink, almost refreshing. Very flavorful with an awesome mouthfeel for the low ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

From a can. Loved the sweet chocolate aroma, smooth body, the vanilla names this a cracking dessert beer.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pint can - pours a midnight brown with a thin tan head. Sweet chocolatey aroma along with vanilla cream and lactose. Sweet, roasty, creamy, thin and dessert like. This would be good with real campfire s’mores.

From the can the pour is dark but light barely permeates the glass, the only light is towards the bottom and is a rich chocolate brown. The head quickly dissipates to nothing but was light brown in color. The aroma chocolate and roasted coffee. The taste is initially sweet rich and smooth, there is a hint of cinnamon in the background and a richness from the vanilla. The finish is almost soda like because of the cinnamon, does not finish like a stout or traditional beer, nor does it leave any overriding flavor notes. The mouthfeel is medium. Overall if I had this without knowing it is a stout, I would not guess it is a stout, it does not finish like one.
