Can. Vanilla, chocolate, oatmeal, malt, and straw aroma. Dark brown with moderate tan head. Sweet chocolate oatmeal cookie, malt, and mildly bitter herbal grass flavor. Medium body - kind of light for the style. ARH (1135) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 28, 2016
17 oz can poured into a goblet. The aroma starts strong with creamy vanilla, leather, and subtle lactose that turns to brewed coffee, then roasted coffee, with undertones of chocolate, nuts, and oats. The beer pours a rich, dark raisin brown, with tan, soft foam, cream head that becomes rocky and unstable leaving only light retention and lace. The taste is a medium high sweet and medium light bitter. The texture is oily and slick with a soft fizz carbonation and a medium body. The flavor of creamy lactose and vanilla is initially noted, followed by light, brown ale-like raisin and finishes smooth with a flourish of vanilla molasses and lactose sugar - kinda like a root beer float - and a leather funk. The aftertaste is toasted nuts with a slight bourbon- like hint and lactose. jhp40219 (449) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - FEB 28, 2016
Pint can into tulip glass. Pours a dark brown with a small tan head that disappates almost immediately and leaves no lacing. Big vanilla, chocolate, roasted malts, caramel, coffee. Full body, creamy and smooth texture, average carbonation, long finish of malt, vanilla and chocolate. Absolutely delicious! Thechasm442 (1005) - Denver, Colorado, USA - FEB 27, 2016

pretty much black....with a slight ruby tint....small tan head.
Fresh roast vanilla bean and coffee aroma.
Flavour is sweet vanilla bean, vanilla cream, coffee malt, cocoa powder.
Cola-like carbonation at the beginning.
Really wonderful....a delight to drink as a dessert, or otherwise.

Dark brown pour. Aroma is of strong coffee and sweet malts. The nose matches the taste, but has a vanilla hint that adds a very nice twist. Obfuscate (584) - Minneapolis, - JAN 29, 2016
Very good. Rich and creamy with vanilla, oats and chocolate. I like it better than the original. Drake (14032) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 20, 2016
16 ounce can thanks to Secret Santa crajun! Dark brown, large fizzy dark brown head that fades to nothing fairly quickly. Aroma of vanilla, roasted malts, lactose. The taste is sweet lactose, vanilla bean, mild roasty finish. Medium bodied. saltyseadog (71) - Des Moines, Iowa, USA - JAN 8, 2016
AROMA Brown sugar, coffee, sweetened condensed milk, whipping cream, a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg. No alcohol smell to speak of, in contrast to several other heavyweight stouts I’ve sampled recently.
APPEARANCE Big voluptuous caramel colored head frothing up like it wants to overflow the beer glass. Dark oily liquid with perfectly balanced carbonation, keeping it light on the palate without being fizzy.
TASTE Sweet, roasty without the intense coffee notes of many of its peers. Nice balance of malt, sweet, acid, bitterness and creamyness with a well integrated lingering hint of vanilla. Not so much like vanilla ice cream as much as a nilla wafer.
PALATE Light, creamy, smooth, viscous and mouthcoating. Well calculated carbonation lightens up the weight of the beer admirably. Very refreshing as dark stout beers go.
OVERALL Even better than expected. A highly drinkable, exceptionally balanced sweet stout. The vanilla expression is subtle but shifts the flavor profile just slightly in a way that keeps the beer lighter and more refreshing. Seeking this one out again next year. ozzy70 (1211) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - DEC 26, 2015
