Ishikawa’s Bottle Conditioned Ale pours a surprisingly nice cloudy honey brown color with a creamy head. It smells slightly citrusy, but not overly sweet like some of the other Japanese microbrews. The taste is outstanding, rich and flavorful with hints of honey and a bit of a hoppy kick. As the beer gets warm (if it lasts that long), other flavors emerge, and the hint of bitterness fades to be replaced by more roasted grain flavors. The ABV is a pretty standard 5.5 percent.
500ml bottle thanks to Shingo. Pours a clear Amber color with a small white head. A light fruity nose. The flavor is light toast, watery, melon. Very light. OK. willisread (3464) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - JUN 25, 2016
Bottle shared. Thanks TimE. Very old school nose with caramel and grassy notes dominating. Body is balanced but kind of simple. Mostly chewy caramel and some light hop character. Bitter finish. Simple. Travlr (25500) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - SEP 12, 2015
Bottle. Clear golden amber color, medium white head. Aroma of grassy citrus, light caramel. Taste has toffee, caramel. trith1 (53) - - MAR 20, 2015
The nose is basically non-existent, and the beer looks murky, with an off-white head that faded quickly. Very high carbonation on the palate, making for a fairly crisp finish. The flavours that push through aren't very... Authentic. They seem artificial and not alluring in the slightest. GenDV138 (7467) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - JAN 12, 2015
330 ml bottle at Izakaya Seki in DC. 2013.11 stamped on the lower left side of the label. Mostly clear yellow with just a hint of haziness, big rapid forming off-white head. Aromas of lemon lime, floral notes, light funk, Brett, caramel. Tastes of lemon citrus, floral notes, citrus peel, light Brett. Medium body with a dry finish. Pretty enjoyable.

Pours a clean and clear yellow color. Aroma of rice and yeast. Taste is simple with a tint of honey and malt. Slight metallic flavor in he aftertaste. Overall, a simple beer that was not very flavorful or complex. maekchu (4001) - Hirakata, JAPAN - SEP 21, 2014
Bottle from local Yamaya. Grain, yeast, and honey aromas, with a very light cardboard note. Hazy amber/strae color, thin head, and good lace. Caramel, honey, apples, peaches, and light spicy hopping. Thin-medium body, a bit soapy with the somewhat over-the-top bottle conditioning carbonation, slightly dry finish. Okay. The carbonation does interfere a bit. biirusaikou (2705) - - AUG 24, 2014
Bread, mild caramel aroma.Caramel malt, quite fizzy, cake, touch of orange, floral hops, clean finish. Nothing too exciting but ok malty caramel ale. TBone (17779) - Pori, FINLAND - JUL 24, 2014
Bottle 330ml "Tokyo Beer" 5.5 % (sampled in Kyoto)KansaiBeerLvrs (5234) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAY 17, 2014
Hazy amber color, small steady white head. Grainy, bready, hoppy aroma. Medium-bodied. Grainy, fruity flavor, some yeastyness. Mango, very light pine touch, sweetish. Really gives quite "bottle conditioned" feeling.
Bottle from Yamaya, it no longer says Pale Ale on the bottle just Bottle Conditioned. Bottled Sept. 2013. It pours a decent looking cloudy honey amber with a thin head of foam that dissipates somewhat quickly. The aroma is an appetizing fruity/herbal hoppiness. The body is on the thin side, it’s kind of watery. While the taste doesn’t measure up to the aroma. The taste is a bit chalky, pilsner grains, a bit bready, some caramel with some hop notes but much more subdued than in the aroma. Mild mouth puckering finish. Ok
