How: Growler 32oz, consumed a few days after I received it from Savvy1982, thanks a lot Kyle.
The look: Cloudy blond-orange body topped by a small white head leaving lots of lacings on the glass.
In long: Nose is fresh rye, fresh fruity/citrusy hops, fresh hay, fresh stuff. Not a highly aromatic beer but this smooth aroma was very inviting with its vibrant freshness. Taste has a very nice juicy rye flavor with a light spicy twist, exactly what I expect from a good rye-based beer. Generously hopped, lots and lots of fruity hops (juicy clementines, bitter white grapefruits) along with fresh grass sensation. Full body with a lot of soft bubbles. This beer doesn’t reinvent the style, this is a rye IPA, however I Tamarack really nailed the right hop profile to match the rye backbone. Drank three growlers in a row that night then broke my earphones trying plug them on my tv remote control, I’ve done some really stupid things when drunk, but in beer’s defense I’ve done just as much stupid things when sober.
On tap @ brewpub, Missoula location. Brighter than expected, this beer arrived with a hazy orange body crowned by an off-white head of dense foam. Zesty grapefruit hop flavour, cookie-ish malts, spicy bitter finish. They’re doesn’t punch you in the face in this, rather the hops seem to shine. I’ve come to realize that I really like how this little brewery chooses and uses their hops. Their hoppy beers are all really delicious.

Pint on tap at the brewpub pours a slightly hazy golden brown color with a finger of white head that leaves some thin spotty lacing. Aroma is light citrus with hints of caramel and cereal grains. Taste is a bold citrusy hop bitterness with an underlying caramel malty sweetness. Medium bodied with mild carbonation. Draft 6 oz’er at the Missoula brewpub. After several beers with no discernible aroma, this finally has one. At first whiff it ain’t great, but it settles into a nice citric selling point. Draft at Tamarack’s Missoula location. Pours very cloudy orange, with a tawny hue. Thin off-white head, poor lacing. Not sure who poured this,but it may have been a bad pour. Nose is really remarkably nice, with the real "spritzy/juicy" character I love so well, along with quite pronounced spicy/earthy notes from the rye. Really loving the nose on this one. Flavours of earth, bright mandarin, persimmon, grapefruit, and more of the elusive juicy hop character. Very dry and spicy finish. Dangerously drinkable - I could crush this all day!
