An interesting aroma it’s difficult to place a precise smell to it, lime, pine, fruit and hops. Black color with a short lasting white head. Full bodied with a fruity taste with hints of hops and citrus. Mildly bitter finish. onceblind (10861) - Denver, Colorado, USA - FEB 2, 2014
Clear dark amber with a very persistent foamy light beige cap. Nose is surprisingly nutty and roasty sweet, with a wee bit of licorice and earthy hops. Great aroma. Flavor had a surprising piney and leafy bitterness, some dry roastiness, a little cocoa, and a earthy semi bitter finish. Nekronos (4213) - Xalapa, MEXICO - SEP 1, 2013
INteresting, a black IPA is not so common. BUt it was nice to drink a little bit ashy though. NIce smell too. Evolutionary (539) - Ohio, USA - AUG 1, 2012
Tap from wood fired pizza in Tampa. Great dark pour and medium head. Thick for an ipa and great balance of thick malt and coffee undertones. Great dark ipa overall and wish I had it back home.

On tap at the brewpub. Not one of my favorite styles. Pours clear dark brown with off-white head. Little lacing, medium body, low carbonation, resinous texture, and light pine aroma. Taste is light roasted malt and long pine bitter finish. Not a fan. jcwattsrugger (12559) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - JUN 27, 2011
on tap-pours a rich tight retaining light brown head and black color. Aroma is resin, dark malt-roasty/chocolate. Taste is resin/earthy biting hops [lots of Chinook leaf, Northern Brewer, Cascade], dark malt-roaasty/burnt/chocolate. Ibrew2or3 (8912) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - MAY 1, 2011
On tap at the TBBC brewpub pouring up clear dark mahogany with deep garnet edges, full firm tan head and a nice level of sheet lacing. The meek aroma offers up spicy hops and some dark roasted malts and little else. The taste is a bit off since they refuse to serve their ales at a reasonable temperature. It really opened up and became much better after it warmed up a bit. I get dark roasted to near burnt malts, dark roasted coffee, thin layers of chocolate and earthiness. All of these notes intermingle with healthy levels of spicy hops as well as lesser notes of pine and a sense of grapefruit. PorterPounder (8356) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAR 22, 2011
Tampa, Fl - on tap at the brewpub in Ybor City. Pours a dark brown with a sticky off white colored head that leaves frothy lacing. Fresh spruce aroma with a hint of mint. Full bodied flavor with some bold citrus, a hint of licorice and a minty rye finish. Thick, sticky mouthfeel.
