2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: JUN 1, 2015 Tap: Muddled, swampy brown body with a khaki layer of foam that rests more as a thin film atop the brew. Aroma includes slight cocoa dust, banana esters, soft wheat, bubblegum, & a little hint of dark fruitiness in the back end. The flavor is filled with wheat, hefe yeast, bubblegum, mild cocoa, banana taffy, some earthy & dirty esters, a bit of perfume, mild prune, & a touch of medicinal notes in the finish. Aside from the somewhat strange medicinal finish, it’s a very nice weizen bock, kind of like a chocolate-y hefe.
Update: Had this recently out of the bottle. Not at all what I remember. Heavily vinous. Lots of musty grape skins, oak, & cotton. Grape juice flavor without the warmth of wine. Raisin, wood, tannins, strange medicinal finish. Not so great.
Refrigerated brown bomber, bottle on July 31, 2015 from FlandersNed poured into a weizen glass. Opaque medium brown with light brown and small beige head. Aroma is caramel & banana, medium body, low/medium carbonation, and some small-bubble lacing. Taste is big caramel, banana, some chocolate, and a little alcohol. Glad I got to try it, but pricey. 22 ounce bottle. Pours a cloudy brown. Not much head. Not much aroma et when it is first poured. Smell of banana as it warms. Tastes like a German wheat. Full of flavor. Sweet yeasty taste. Sweet finish. rumproasts (6035) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - DEC 20, 2015
bottle. Deep amber, near brown with one finger head. Weizenbock with some astringent smokiness. Banana and some dark fruit. Unique for the style, but not amongst the best I’ve had.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 7/31/2015. Pours fairly crystal clear deep reddish brown color with a 2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big raisin, plum, fig, banana, clove, light bubblegum, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/chocolate, light herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity and balance of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, fig, banana, clove, light bubblegum, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/chocolate, light herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal bitterness/yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, fig, banana, clove, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted biscuit, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and slightly slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome weizenbock. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering. Draft. The pour is a dark caramel color. The aroma is that of a typical belgian. The taste is nice and boozy, notes of banana.

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a slight reddish tint. Very little head. Aromas are plums, figs, bananas, chocolate and grape juice. Taste sugary sweet. Big grape juice and banana, some dark fruit and finish with lingering chocolate syrup. Very little carb. Medium body. Decent but needs some tweaks. bigtaster (1025) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - APR 5, 2015
From taster at brewery. Dark brown with off white head, some light coming through. Lots of raisins, prunes, red wine. Oily, sweet, some pepper. Very good. BBB63 (6567) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - SEP 20, 2014
Tap: very deep brown and okay head. Nice dark fruit and banana along with Clove like spice. Dark smooth wheat husk and some caramel notes. Biting alcohol and chalky finish, could stand a tad more body. Overall solid brew and to style.
