Also known as Märzen, this is a smooth, malty, amber German lager. Similar in style to Vienna Lager, but with a slightly spicy finish and a bit higher in alcohol content.

Aroma is light sweet malt, biscuit, tiny amount of spicy noble hop. Appearance is red/clear 1 finger head no lacing. Taste is incredibly clean It vanishes from my tongue the second it hit it. palate is nice b/c of this. I’m not a huge fan of the style and this wasn’t very memorable except for it’s clean ability to disappear.

Growler. Rating #6. Dark amber with a thin head. Sweet aroma, a little caramel. Light toast and a bit of toastiness and a nice mild aftertaste. (1952)

On tap. Pours with a clear orange body with a minimal white head. Aromas are grainy, pretty rich malt character, light caramel. A hint of fruit notes (could be alcohol). Flavors are grainy, malty, bready. Light caramel. Pretty clean. Medium to lively bubbles.

A: The beer pours an amber/copper color with an off-white head. S: There’s a nice toffee and bread sweetness to it to begin with. There are faint floral hop notes and some definite yeast. It’s somewhat earthy as well. T: Pretty decent sweetness to this with some bread and toffee notes. Definitely a bit of metal and maybe even some corn. Some earthy hops and a light grass note. M: The body is medium with a medium carbonation. O: Not a bad aroma, but a pretty lackluster flavor profile.

clear amber, sweet caramel malt aroma and flavor, just a touch of earthy bitterness, may overwhelm after a while

Poured a clear copper color with a small off-white head. Malty aroma with caramel notes. Dull but not bad. Malty caramel flavor that was strong from front to back. Mild bitter finish and a CO2 bite.

herbjones (742) - Orange, California, USA - OCT 23, 2004
Copper colored brew with a nice off white head. Decent head retention. Thick malty nose, very bready. Med./light creamy almost doughy body. Good slightly sweet front, full and malty with a medium hop bitterness coming in near the middle. Finishes smooth and crisp.
