very dark brown. Light scent of dark malt. Burnt sugar dark malt and a bit of raw root in the flavor. brokensail (16449) - Dublin, California, USA - JUN 6, 2011
A: The beer pours nearly black with a creamy tan head sitting on top.
S: Smells of coffee and coffee ground with a nice roasted malt base to it. Light sweetness in the form of toffee and molasses with some dark chocolate/cocoa powder in there as well. A mild ash note is detectable, unfortunately.
T: Really a solid flavor. Roasted malts and coffee are the primary flavor components. Plenty of dark chocolate with a subtle molasses, licorice, and toffee flavor. Light earthy hops and minimal bitterness.
M: Medium in body with a medium level of carbonation.
O: One of the better Taps beers I’ve had. Really easy to drink. BeerandBlues2 (13321) - Escondido, California, USA - MAY 26, 2011
Tap. Pours black with an average, fizzy light beige head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (toast, nutty, caramel), light hops (woody), and average esters (fruity) and notes of dates and chocolate. Flavor is heavy roasted malt and chocolate with light bitterness and fruitiness. Light body, low warmth, medium carbonation and a dry finish. alexanderj (3605) - Branson, Missouri, USA - FEB 11, 2011

On tap at Stone. Dark brown with red tints. White ring from an off white head. Nose is sweet roast malt. Bit of licorice and dark fruit. Taste is sweet yeasty up front to dark fruit sweet. Lightly bitter finish. Not bad. DaSilky1 (2606) - San Diego, California, USA - AUG 8, 2010
Pours a deep burnt burnt sienna, slightly off white halo of suds. Nose that schwartzy smell...some roast, lager yeast, bubblegum, and sweetness. Roasty, lagery flavors..clean enough schwartzy, thick enough body...yeah, for the style, no complaints. daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - AUG 2, 2010
