On tap at the Brea location. A dark brown beer with an off-white head. Light roasted aroma with some dried fruit notes. Pleasant roasted flavor with some bitterness. Dried fruits and a touch of caramel too. Dry on the palate, a bit too carbonated. Dry, roasted finish. A good schwarzbier. 130812 brokensail (16449) - Dublin, California, USA - JUN 6, 2011
A: The beer pours nearly black with a creamy tan head sitting on top.
S: Smells of coffee and coffee ground with a nice roasted malt base to it. Light sweetness in the form of toffee and molasses with some dark chocolate/cocoa powder in there as well. A mild ash note is detectable, unfortunately.
T: Really a solid flavor. Roasted malts and coffee are the primary flavor components. Plenty of dark chocolate with a subtle molasses, licorice, and toffee flavor. Light earthy hops and minimal bitterness.
M: Medium in body with a medium level of carbonation.
O: One of the better Taps beers I’ve had. Really easy to drink. djd07 (14521) - Houston, Texas, USA - DEC 29, 2016
