COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As pale “Kanapinis” received great popularity, the dark version of this beer was brewed as well. For brewing of the beer, hemp seeds and roasted malt is used which gives rich dark colour and, upon tasting, caramel savour with distinct hop bitterness unfolds. NOTE: Since the end of 2016 hemp seeds are no more used in making of this beer.

Derbeth (1051) - Kraków, POLAND - OCT 7, 2014
UPDATED: MAR 23, 2015 Draught. Dark brown colour, quickly diminishing head. Aroma: dark bread, some honey, some strange herb in finish (maybe this is hemp). Soft carbonation. Unusual and good.

How: Bottle . Aroma: Caramel, herbs Appearance: cloudy, red / dark brown colour. with good lasting small brown head. Taste: Sweet dark caramel, medium to heavy sweet, medium bitter, but sweetness overhelms bitterness. Palate: Full body, flat carbonation, sticky texture.

trapped (3599) - New York, TURKEY - NOV 1, 2015
Bottle in Klaipeda Gastropub, Kiev. Hazy dark brown with reddish tint, small frothy beige head, low carbonation, slightly sweet, spicy caramel taste, smooth body, abrupt finish with little caramel aftertaste. Quite mellow and easy to drink.

bierkoning (13674) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - JUL 3, 2011
Bottle from Schroppfy, thanks! Pale amber color, cloudy. Peach and pear in the aroma. Tart flavor with lemon, canned peach and pear. Metallic and yeasty notes. These Lithuanian beers really are something else. But in a pleasant way.

rauchbier (3933) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - JUN 30, 2012
2 litre bottle (5.3% abv) from an ethnic foodstore in Scunthorpe. Hazy red brown, thin but sustained cream coloured head and gentle condition. Initial buttery sweet caramel notes in the nose but developing a peppery spiciness as it warms, some earthiness from the hops and a touch of burnt smokiness from the darker malts. Quite sweet from the start in the mouth but a dry bitterness and burnt toast note quickly balances this out, theres a background yeastiness and a suggestion of butteriness akin to a German dunkel but with a tangy fruit note lurking in the background and lingering into the finish where it is joined by a gentle chalky yeast bitterness that becomes dominant but never opressive.

boxofrane (2559) - Spring City, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 9, 2013
Bottle. Pours reddish brown with a small tan head. The aroma is roast, rye bread, toffee. The taste is sweet, roasted malt, some caramel. Best part of this beer is the brewery name.. which I repeatedly called "Can of penis."

Papsoe (25056) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - SEP 8, 2011
Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of Schroppfy. Pours a cloudy amber with a lacing off-white head. The nose has a little exotic fruit and dryish(!) caramel accents. Light body, again this interesting lactic tartness. Overripe fruitiness, rustic metallic notes with a dry finish. Again hardly any hops. Very far from what you’d normally associate with a Dunkel! 080911

visionthing (5530) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - DEC 13, 2014
50cl bottle got as a gift. Pours hazy caramel brown with an off-white head. Malty and caramelly aroma with mild fruity notes and hints of wet wood and vanilla. Medium sweet with caramel dominated flavour, light acidity and quite balanced bitterness. On the sweet side, but quite tasty and easy to drink.
