Drank with Rik and Patrick @ Cafe Jos 30-6-17. Not that IPA-ish, but boring.

33cl bottle at home. Appearance: hazy pale straw with medium white head. Aroma: sweet malts, little bit wheat like aroma, raisins, some hops and a little dusty. Taste: medium sweetness and above medium bitterness. Spicy and earthy notes, yeast and hops. Yeast in the finish. Palate: medium bodied, thin to oily texture and lively carbonation.

33cl bottle bought at De Bierkoning, Amsterdam and poured into a snifter on 14-Sep-2016. Hazy orange amber colour with a medium sized white head. Aroma of malt, citrus, pine and yeast. Medium body and carbonation. Fruity taste - citrus, orange, grapefruit with bread, caramel and juicy hops. Not bad, but the Belgian yeast and hops are a little too heavy and overwhelm the citrus.

CONCLUSION : tasty lady … you’re so pretty !!

Backlog from 2015/03/16.

Backlog from 2015/08/01.

From tap at Café ’t Pandje, Utrecht. Aroma of biscuity malt, fruits, citrus, yeast, hoppy notes, a hint of diacetyl noticeable in my sample, but I see no other mentions of it so I am willing to forgive. Flavour is light sweetish with a light to moderate bitter finish. Body is medium. This is not much of an IPA.

Dutch IPA conceived by five ladies who all have something to do with beer, made at Scheldebrouwerij by De Eem. Older bottle, just past its "best before" date which is never a good thing for an IPA, but I’ll take the risk. Lightly hazy, warm ’old gold’ colour under a creamy, sticky, dense and stable, egg-white head. Delicate aroma of fresh and fragrant, ’titillating’ lemon zest, grapefruit blossom, orange water, biscuit, mango, sweat, dried apricot, gooseberries, chicken curry, freshly cut nettles, earthy touch of cooked mushrooms but nothing unpleasant, though this was probably even more fragrant when young. Sweetish fruity onset, hints of peach, pineapple and passion fruit, surrounded by a sourish edge and a very light saltiness, fairly strong carbo tingling on the tongue, smooth and supple body, malt sweetishness with toasted accent, finishing in drying, spicy and still very aromatic hop bitterness, citrusy, peppery and achieving well for the intended style without stopping the malt sweetness to creep through, although the bitterness lasts longer, even paired with a slight saltiness as is the case in many ’genuinely’ American IPAs. Very elegant with some ’animalistic’, wild notes; the Citra has probably lost a lot of its lovely orange fragrance by now, but this still breathes an American IPA bouquet in all its lushness and ’tropical fruitiness’. Very well made, makes me curious to find more about these ladies. A beer with character and finesse at the same time - I wish more ladies were involved in beer if this is the result, but fortunately the craft beer movement is reaching a growing female audience nowadays, not just in the States, but - very gradually - in western Europe as well. I can only meet this with enthusiasm.

Bottle at home while visiting Amsterdam. Pours orange amber with a white head. Yeasty, bready aroma with a little lemon.Medium body, medium to full carbonation. Orange, light caramel, light medicinal stuff, light cherry, lemon, yeast... OK.
