720 ml bottle bought at YATA in New Town Plaza, Shatin circa January 2013 (Manufacture date on label: 01-11).
Clear, very pale white wine-ish yellow colour; Fragrant and sweet aroma of strong rice wine, with pears, steamed crab meat, mature alcohol (Huangjiu-like), light pollen, sugar and sweet rice soup; Medium sweet taste of rice wine, with steamed crab meat, light pears, light floral, tartness, warm alcohol, sugar and quite strong liquorices; Light body. Dry and slightly slick palate; Mouth Feel is dry (true to its “karakuchi” promise) and tart, light ricey to the tongue but thick in body. The booze taste bears some resemblance of Chinese Honjiu - warm and potent - but never harsh and pretty tasty throughout. Light pear ester, light floral and relatively light sweetness. Lingering cooked crab meat, fairly strong liquorices finish. Nice!... Dry after taste; Quite warm boozy to mouth.
Comments: Its taste like a fine wine after 4 years of waiting, as the looks, aroma and taste really matured into something like a light Siaoxing wine. Gone are most the rough edges, but the tartness, dryness, and nice booze remains. Nice one, and how I wish I should have age it a few more years!
