bottle. Chestnut-brown colour, mid-sized off-white head. Sourish-fruity nose with some caramel. Shy malty base, caramel, biscuits, blackberries and blackcurrant. Very light-bodied. imdownthepub (14974) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - SEP 10, 2010
Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Brown amber with white head. A bit of a throwback beer, dark, malty and slightly nutty, surprisingly served at a reasonable temperature. The close is a little drier and a touch of bitterness. Overall quite reasonable. KyotoLefty (10531) - Kyoto, JAPAN - JUN 27, 2010
Cask in Oxford in 2008. Dark amber color. Malt-directed beer. Dry and earthy, but with rich maltiness, quite sweet, with lots of caramel and a bit of chocolate. A pretty decent bitter. johndoughty (5504) - cheslyn hay, West Midlands, ENGLAND - MAY 20, 2010
Bottle bought in Taunton whilst on holiday. Slightly cloudy with some acidity. Fruity in places with a bitter finnish. Reasonable DJMonarch (9179) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - NOV 1, 2009

Cask (handpump) at the Market Porter, Southwark, April 2008. Copper colour with a slight haze. Good condition. Rather surprising distinct chocolate notes in the aroma. Soft fruit and some subtle peppery hop notes in the flavour. Light, clean and dry mouthfeel. A pleasant, easy drinking best bitter, although I would have preferred a bit more hop punch.

Cask in the market porter. Alround rating: Sweet honey malts, tpuch of chocolate, nuttyness comes in later, theres some herbal floral hops, but its fairly on the sweet side of balance. maeib (8749) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - JUN 28, 2008
Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Victoria, Rugby. An amber coloured beer woth some fruit in the aroma but also some spoiling acidity. The taste is similar with some wet paper thrown in for good measure. Has some reasonable qualities but is maybe a little young? harrisoni (19003) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - APR 12, 2008
Cask handpull at Market Porter. Pale chestnut colour with thin beige head. Choccy malts, dry malt flavour. Decent aroma, bit spicy on aroma and end. But I quite liked it. Choc and spice hop finish. Like a toned down ESB.
