Pours jet black. Strong boozy aroma. Bourbon taste is overdone. Very thick mouthfeel and nice enough taste but bourbon overpowers every other taste in the beer. Tap.

2014 sample at The Brew Kettle on 2/28/16. Pours darkest brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of bourbon, chocolate and sweet malt. Malty and chocolatey flavor with a nice bourbon character before a sweet chocolate finish.

Pours near black with small tan head and no lacing. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, and booze. Taste is the same with delicious dark malts. Smooth and tasteful! Very nice.

Taster at Jungle Jims Barrel-Aged Beer Bash 2015. Black color. Thin tan head, kind of bubbly. Good dots of lace. One of the better-looking beers Ive had at this event thus far. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of crisp lighter carbonation. Light chewiness. Sort of slick. Moderate roast malt, coffee, touch of coconut, and bit of vanilla in the flavor, mild spiciness. Moderate sweet taste, moderate to bigger bitterness, and a bit of booziness on the back end. Tasty stuff, but a bit of a bite to it... Barrel character is not as well-integrated as it could be.

Tap sample. Poured black color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted and good lacing. Moderate to heavy sweet bourbon, chocolate and vanilla wood aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted dark sweet bourbon flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout brew.

Aroma: Coffee and chocolate aromas, nice and rich. Appearance: Black with minimal head Palate: Medium sweetness backed by a light bitterness. A bit overwhelming. Taste: Full body, rich oily texture, minimal carbonation, long finish. Overall: Very rich. The bourbon is readily apparent. Its solid, but overwhelming at points.

complex, a reddish brown appearance and lacy. Big bitter. Coconut from the barrel,. An IPA 60 level of hoppiness. Interesting characteristics that do not come together to offer good drinkability. Good aroma. A little disappointed.

Bottle. Pours black with a very thick creamy brown head that laces very thickly. Aroma has a strong roasted malt note with some semi sweet chocolate and a bit of backing bourbon. Flavor began with semi sweet chocolate that was joined by strong roasted malts and a bit of bourbon coming out in the finish. Incredibly smooth beer.
