Tasted 7/8/11. 22oz bomber. Thanks to phaleslu for sharing. Pours filtered with a brown hue. Khaki head. Aromas of toffee and dark chocolate with a mild flare of alcohol, backed up with a subtle coffee note. Full bodied with a malt dominant palate and a mild effervescence. Fudgy and silky with a deep dark roast. Nutty flavors with a dark chocolate sweetness and a good coffee bitterness. Good body with a pleasant warming aspect. Solid stuff!
12oz bottle from Giant Eagle in UA: Blackish pour with thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, earthy, toast. Tastes are along those lines with caramel, lightly bitter, light smoke. Palate is thin. Finish is light chalky and earthy bitter and little dry. Pretty tasty overall. outlawskies (480) - Ohio, USA - OCT 12, 2014

Tap. pours clear black, medium tan head, decent lacing. Aroma is nice and roasty, coffee, ashtray. Flavor is light set, medium bitter, very roasty, a bit acidic. Medium body, lingering roasty. Nice. Angelmonster (197) - Colorado, USA - JUN 5, 2014
Pours a pitch black body with a khaki, 1/4 inch head. Beer is completely opaque. Head retention and lacing were good.
First aromas are of tons of smoked and burnt caramel malts. Oak flavors are also present, hops are very faint. There is a weird copper scent that lingers and alcohol isn’t apparent.
Dominent flavor at first is definitely smoke, reminiscent of a smoked porter or rauchbier. There is also a touch of caramel sweetness with end notes of slight bitterness. For 6.5 abv, alcohol is pretty subtle. Only blemish on taste is a weird copper aftertaste.
Mouthfeel is full bodied and smooth as you would hope for the style. Head added some thickness to the beer. Carbonation was pretty lively.
Overall this was a pretty solid beer. Nothing mind blowing but good in all aspects. Wouldn’t seek out this beer but glad I tried it bobh71 (3) - brook park, Ohio, USA - MAY 3, 2014 does not count

This is a great java brew. Taste and smell the coffee notes. The only things i think this is missing is a good head. nuplastikk (6215) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 2, 2014
12oz bottle. Brown-black body. Creamy beige head. Mellow chocolate aroma. Has a sharp bite up front, a sour coffee twang that could be mild infection or it could be intentional. I can’t really get past that even though it has nice malt tones underneath, I just don’t enjoy the balance. Still drank it, just wouldn’t buy a six-pack. Pours deep dark brown with a thin tan head. Aromas of raisin, chocolate and malt. Taste is roasted coffee with a slightly smoky sour finish. With a medium body and low carbonation, its pretty drinkable. Overall a good porter. umich03jm (3513) - Flat Rock, Michigan, USA - OCT 22, 2013
Bottle. Pours black with very little head. Strong roasted coffee aroma with some chocolate and caramel too. Taste has very little sweetness, mostly strong, bitter roasted coffee. Not balanced at all but I don’t mind since I enjoy a nice roasted coffee sometimes. Some nice light milk chocolate shows up in the finish too. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel, very easy to drink. Great porter.
