Dark brown, clearish body. Nice lacing quickly resumes to cover. Burnt caramel owns the nose, but can’t completely hide pleasant herbs and toffee as well as a mellow roastiness. Not very complex, but well displayed, sweet and aptly malty. Perhaps some earthiness would be appreciated to pair the nutty caramel and give the impression of a reduced sweetness. A Mes rate:
50cl bottle from Quinns. Strange but somehow appealing nose. Notes of banana with some milk and lots of yeast. Same in the flavour but unfortunately by the time the glass has made it to my mouth the milk has gone off slightly. Lots of yeast all round. Can taste the alcohol quite clearly but it is tollerable. Apple, coffee, spicy melanoidins=aroma. Beautiful, red-brown colour, with some wisps on top. The flavour is too sweet for me, but still very nice: dark malty, very low bitterness, liquorice notes. Bottle, Carringtons, Chorlton. Poured a dark brown colour with a fast fading tan head. Caramel malt aroma with some fruit. Pretty sweet malt heavy flavour with rye and prune notes.
