UPDATED: DEC 1, 2005 Golden coloured; malty, cookie-like nose, the sweetish beginning fades into a sticky, dull, candy- or bubble-gum-like aftertaste. One sample is enough....! Re-rated 30/11/05: Distinctive sweetish (pale-)malty with a tinge of hoppiness and honey; moderate bitter-sweet flavour; short sweetish malty finish with a distinctive hoppiness. Seems to be much better than in March..........

Tap at the Hirschgarten in Munich. From old notes. A very nice helles. Rich clean malt, and nice hop flavor and bitterness. Better than most of the others I have had recently, more distinguished, and a lot more hops.

It is light-golden with a creamy, white and lasting head. The aroma has malty and floral notes. The flavor is moderate to light sweet with notes of malt and flower and the finish is citrussy and slightly dry. It is soft and easy to drink.

Pale gold; very airy, fluffy head, leaving... eeeuuhh... German see-through lace? Nose: banana ester!! Is this a Dortmunder - or a Weizen? Bit lactic too. Ends more classical grassy. Roasted cookies, malt taste, and a bit oxidized, buttery notes. Not grainy, but quite malty. Would be quite sweet but for the roasted edge. Light body, but not thin. Limited refreshing qualities. Aftertaste yields again some hints I would expect from a Weizen. Funny. Even when it’s a bit overtime (BBd: 10/04) it presents some unusual characteristics that cannot be linked to its age. One thing’s sure: it’s German.

(on tap at the Brauhaus, 12.Nov.2005) Clear and pale golden colour with a foamy white diminishing head. Slightly sweet malty aroma with honey and a touch of citrus fruits. Sweet flavour, medium to light body, crispy mouthfeel. Sweet malty taste with a short and slightly alcoholic sweetbitter aftertaste. Not round but bland.

My Bottom Line:
Straw-like cereals and herbal hops ride this light lager, as sulfury angles pierce the citrusy fruitiness.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-Generous foam tops the pale yellow.
-The light body and prickly effervescence make for an airy mouthfeel.
-Drinkability is sky high.
-Balance is achieved.

Bottle.
