3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pleasant nose with toasty malt notes and a hint of earthy leaves. Pours deep copper brown, slightly cloudy, with a persistant tan head and strong lace. Flavour is gently rich and oily with thick bitter notes that linger well. A slightly thin mouthfeel detracts but only a little, and it finishes long, deep, bitter and strong. It’s not amazing, but a good, heart-warming, winter ale.

Bottle from Sidmouth Wines, Sidmouth. Darker amber in colour with a small bubbly head. Has a strength with a tasty fusion of sweetened dark malts and light roasted ones. Its nose hides this and you’d think its just an ordinarily sweetened bitter from its aroma. Garrat (1347) - Suffolk, ENGLAND - AUG 13, 2015
