Pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma has roastiness, light smoke, dark fruit, and coffee. Flavor has coffee, bitter dark chocolate, dark fruits, and smoke. Mouthfeel is full and creamy with a roasty/coffee/smoky finish. Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - AUG 5, 2012
The beer pours a dark brownish-red color with a tan head. The aroma is full of oats and some light chocolate malt, as well as a little bit of roasted malt. The flavor is similar. I get a lot of chocolate and roasted malt in the flavor, as well as some oats and a little bit of sugary sweetness. Medium mouthfeel and high, prickly carbonation. blutt59 (6573) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUL 27, 2012

(750ml bottle thanks to blutt59) cloudy light brown, creamy tan bubbles. Nose of cream, lightly toasty, fruity. Taste of moss, lightly roasty, moss, cellar, old, wish it had more cream and chocolate. corby112 (2804) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 2, 2012
Draft at Small Bar in San Diego.
Pours pitch black with a one finger off white head that quickly fades into a thin ring. Minimal spots of lace left behind.
Sweet, slightly roasty aroma with lots of dark malt character. Lots of oatmeal but not overly roasted or burnt smelling. Hints of chocolate, faint toast and subtle earthy hops.
Medium bodied with a bit more roast than the aroma suggests. There’s a prominent toasted dark malt character with lots of oatmeal, toast and some dark chocolate countered by sweeter notes of chocolate, caramel and toffee. Easy to drink but a bit thinner than I prefer. Decent but nothing out of the ordinary.

Half pint draught. Brown sandy head dissolves to thin covering and sticky lacing that is permanently frosty drifting to and covering the glass over dark pekoe tea colored body. Aroma is deep roasted date nut bread with a little burnt crust and some basement notes. Taste is salty, sweet, and bitter like the nut bread. Palate is thin but finish is full. Overall a good session. bb (9695) - Alamo, California, USA - AUG 9, 2011

Bottle… Pours dark brown (nearly black) with a mid-sized, fluffy, off-white head. Great retention. The bouquet is nice and chocolaty, but has its drawbacks – a touch vegetal with an odd, but not entirely unpleasant, tangerine component. Medium-bodied and almost raspy with champagne-like carbonation. The flavor is very nice – semi sweet mocha and toasted nuts. Finishes sweet, chocolaty and a tad nutty with lingering bitterness. Infected, but fortunately, the bug hasn’t totally taken hold just yet. Nice brew.
