Appearance : Hazy amber with small head.
Aroma : Light fruits and light peachy notes. Some resinous hops.
Taste : Overcooked caramel, with light oxidation notes maybe. Finish light caramel and light pachy notes. Some hops as well.
Overall : Nice stuff but nothing memorable.
Bottle thanks to thome50. Amber with tons of white head. Aroma is mix of acidic tangy fruit and floral hops. Flavor is citrus fruit, apples, strawberries, light toasted and caramel malts, semi-sharp citrus bitterness, and sharp carbonic bite. Quite dry and over-carbonated. Covers any delicate rye character. Totally thins out the palate. Far too early to drink this one, but not sure if age would help. MartinT (9852) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 15, 2012
My Bottom Line : deyholla (11505) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - DEC 18, 2011
Loud rye meets floral candies and cranberry fruitiness before tart edges are felt in this highly unusual Barley Wine.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A veil of foam tops the cloudy, dull amber.
-Even though I am usually one that loves creativity, I just felt this one wasn’t entirely cohesive.
-A nice coniferous edge comes from the hops, but it clashes with the discreet tartness.
-Rye is dominant in the nose and in the flavor profile, in a way I’ve rarely encountered before.
-This is a memorable strong ale for sure, just not one I’d seek out again.
Bottle thanks to joeneugs. Pours a hazy orangish amber with a white head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma ha a good amount of sweet fruit, with a bit of alcohol and backing rye. Flavor begins with sweet grains and fruit, but has a good amount of rye the comes out in the finish and a hint of hopiness. hayduke (5188) - Eureka, California, USA - NOV 26, 2011
Pours a cloudy red orange with a fat beige head and lots of lacing. Nose is malts, ripe fruit and flavorful hops.. Body is rich and firm and the carbonation and mouthful is slick and creamy... almost buttery. The flavor is loaded with malt, some. apricot fruit and lots of sweetness. The alcohol is never detected which is real plus. Outstanding beer. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - NOV 6, 2011
Bottle: Muddy caramel in color, large rocky sandy head, sticky lacing, sediment settles at the bottom of the glass. Sweet caramel and candied citrus peel on the nose. Has a fruity aspect to it too, almost like a really bright dark pitted fruit. Glazed/candied walnuts too. Smells tasty! Sweet and citrusy caramel on the tongue. A little young in that its hot, yet the bitterness is not too strong. Nice malty body, mouthfeel is moderate. Finishes with lots of sweet candied citrus peel and caramel. This was pretty tasty. Only thing I would add is to bump up the body a bit, and maybe give it a little more hops.   Other than that, really enjoyable. Thanks Richard!
