A steady pour produces a two finger thick, pale brown tinged, dark tan colored head. The beer is a dark brown / concentrated-amber color that shows a brilliantly clear, red / brown hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells of toasted whole grain bread, touches of roasted cocoa, some bitter roasted grain notes, and a background fruitiness that reminds me of raisins and perhaps prunes.RayKahms (2) - Washington, USA - NOV 10, 2015 does not count
Fairly dry with a finish that has a hint of tartness that is followed by a mellow roasted character that melds with a lingering wholegrain, toasted brown bread character. Soft woody flavors compliment the roasted / toasted flavors found here. The body is quite light, perhaps even a bit overly so, but there is a touch of viscosity here, and I certainly wouldn’t call this watery. Complimentary fruit notes of raisins and perhaps prunes that have been a bit diluted are here as well; as the beer warms up something vinous starts to come out towards the finish, it almost makes me think of a washed out port somehow. An oak character / flavor becomes more noticeable as the beer warms up as well.
I can’t shake the sense that there is something funky & wild about this beer, it is just under the surface, though just peaks through at times; hints of mushrooms, musty, and even musky notes aren’t really noticeable, but are too persistent to be nonexistent.
An interesting porter with hints of chocolate, coffee and clove. Red wine and oak flavors make this a compelling beer. yjmr (14) - seattle, Washington, USA - OCT 27, 2015
Very robust for a 5.7% porter.
Chocolate, coffee, smoke, nut, this beer has everything that porter drinkers look for in a porter without being overwhelming in my opinion.

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark reddish brown pour with slightly tan head, aroma brought notes of roast, caramel, toffee, hints of earth into a bit of grain, slight cocoa powder but pretty little. Taste is a mix of grass, earth, cocoa into some roast, coffee, and slight caramel, finishing fairly dry, slightly roasted. slowrunner77 (12043) - Reno, Nevada, USA - OCT 1, 2014
"a nice porter i’d be tempted to buy more of if it were 4 or 6-packs and not 750s only. bottle conditioned, for a smooth velvety texture. a little thin, but smooth and flavorful. chocolate, roasted coffee and malt, and a touch of dark fruit. nice aroma (more roast) and flavor (more chocolate) with an ever so slightly tart/bittersweet finish...this one is nice, if a little overpriced for a porter."
