This beer must be allowed to come up to temperature, at least 60 degrees F. Also, the ABV was 7.7%
It pours a beautiful amber, like that of a good scotch. The beige head does not linger, yielding to lace around the glass.
The nose is gifted with the spices, pepper and chocolate. There is definitely a presence of chilis. The caramel malt is not overdone. A bittersweet taste with a very slight burning from the anchos. Very reminiscent of Mexican hot chocolate.
A very smooth finish on the beer with just the slight tingle from the chilis lingering. A very nice beer for warming the body in a cold winter evening.

Bottle:   Soft spicy nose, some cinnamon and nutmeg, along with perhaps a touch of red peppers.   A bit more peppery on the tongue but its still spicy with the cinnamon and nutmeg.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Orangish amber in color, a bit dark like brown sugar, fairly nice lacing.   Decent little beer... but needs to have some umph or something as its just spicy with only a body to chew on.   Make it an Imperial Winter and then we’d have somethin. Deep brown with red underpinnings and an okay head. This brew is akin to a Mexican mole beer. Absolutely superb and underrated. The bouquet is of rich, dry chocolate, and leather with the essence of cinnamon, and allspice massaged painstakingly in. Ancho chiles help round out the bouquet by provide an earthy spicyness. The beer delivers on flavor as well. Layers of medium chocolate rounded out by allspice and cinnamon nuances, all woven across an earthy ancho and leather malt tableau. Caramel chocolate finish. Delicious.

Dark red brown color some white head. Aroma big nutmeg, cinnamon some pepper. Tastes only slightly chocolate. tobacco, like a brown. ginger, peppers come though, but it seems like they are trying to bury them in a mountain of other spice (nutmeg). errs on the sweet side. light body for a big beer. Very unique, but probably wouldn’t get again.

750mL cork&cage poured into a tulip glass, batch 159. Big tight head atop a brown body. Aroma is all spices - allspice, nutmeg-y. Body has a soft carbonation and a medium body. A toasted malt covered by spices some nuttiness. So, I got this for the chilies but I was robbed. No heat, no peppa’s, boooo. Pour out of 750 mL bottle, dark reddish brown pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of chili, caramel, toffee, hints of spice into some cinnamon, clove, touch of allspice, hints of cocoa. Taste is a mix of caramel, toffee, dark fruit, hints of nice cinnamon, slight pepper, touch of cocoa, finishing sweet, slightly dry.
