Pours with a huge, foamy light brown head and a murky deep brown body. Very interesting aroma. Notes of peppers, spearmint, peppermint, cocoa powder, bananas, baking chocolate, flour, cinnamon, allspice and twigs. Taste is chocolate, and earthy with notes of earthiness, christmas spices, woodsy, sweet and minty with leather in the finish. Very lively carbonation. 750 cc bottles from Capone’s and Blue Dog. Pours translucent mahogany, more toward deep copper, with 1-finger off-white head. Nose is caramel malt, nutmeg, cinnamon, mild hops, nuts. Tastes caramel malty, rich, with notes of nutmeg, cinnamon, and finishing hops. Got mild oak in this, too. Overall this is another solid beer from Telegraph. Dark brown; small head. Funky spice and toasty malt aroma. Absolutely crazy brew here with herbal flavors, pepper and other spices, bitter chocolate, other herbs, mouthwash, we’re talking funky spicy wild!! Vac (2445) - San Diego, California, USA - MAR 17, 2008
Bottle from hamiltons. Pours with a deep red-brown body topped by a medium thick, quickly disapperaing, off-white head with some lacing. It’s slightly swet and malty with notes of allspice and cinnamon. Similar to mexican cocoa. Not bad. Medium bodied and highly carbonated. On tap at Stone. Great spicy round scent. Smells cinnamon and clove, but no ancho chile. Nice dark brown hue. Flavor is warm, full, and spicy. Not spicy picante, but spicy sharp. Nice full, funky, spicy sweet flavor. Yummy.

750 ml corked and caged bottle poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of cocoa, allspice, chilis, cinnamon and a hint of vanilla. Palate was light to medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of cocoa, allspice, cinnamon and light chili with a crisp lingering bittersweet finish. brokensail (16449) - Dublin, California, USA - DEC 10, 2011
Pours a dark amber color with a finger of off-white head. Strong spice aromas of cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg. There’s a nice little bit of banana aroma and dark fruit, too. Maybe a little bit of coffee. The flavor is nicely sweet with quite a bit of caramel, toffee, and spices. Nutmeg and cinnamon seem to be the most prominent. Some hints of banana as well as cherries. Medium bodied and medium carbonation. Ndg2e (36) - Arizona, USA - FEB 11, 2012

This had an average aroma. It had a great head and color. The color was a very dark brown, almost black. It tasted mostly like a stout, with hints of chocolate, has a bit of a sour bite.Very slight hint of musky spices.Pretty good beer, but for this style I would rather be drinking Fuller’s London Porter. This beer is very close to being a stout.
