Tempest/Cromarty Collaboration A few weeks ago we had the excitement of brewing our first collaboration beer with a fellow Scottish Brewery, Cromarty Brewing. Cromarty have been making awesome beers over the past few months and through the weird and wonderful world of Twitter and some crazy banter we hatched the idea to brew a beer together. Emails and call were exchanged, different beers were considered but it was decided we would take a crack at brewing a pumpkin beer! What had we let ourselves in for. The beer itself uses a fairly complex malt bill, addition of pepper, some of our favourite hops and a barrow load of pumpkins. It is for certain one of the hardest beers done at our brewery and one of the longest brews yet!! The beer will be available for limited period in cask, keg and bottle, so look out for it. For a sneak tasting of it before anywhere else head on over to one of our favourite bars the Bon Accord (Glasgow) where it will be on the bar on the 31st along with a range of our other beers including our red eye flight on cask as well as a range of exciting stuff from Cromarty and you may also find a brewer or two hanging out to answer a few questions. So there we have it, we are really excited about this beer it has been a labour of love and pain, we hope you enjoy it.

Bottle. Muted vegetal aroma that doesnt inspire much confidence. Flavour is much better with a nice blend of sweet toffee, peppery hops with a considerable pumpkin presence.

A colab from the two hottest breweries in Scotland today. Nose is a bit vegetal but nice. Glowing white yellow full thick foams head. Nice critic nose too which is cutting. Smooth middle with activity on the left and right of it. Not much development at the end but still very satisfying beer.Quality.

Cask at bat. Dark amber with white head. Slightly stale aroma, like spilt beer trays dried up. Taste is better, caramel, toffee and spicy pumpkin. Pleasant mouthfeel but a little warm for me. Not bad.

On tap @ Blue Blazer. Pours amber with a nicely proportioned head. The nose is unusually earthy with vegetal notes too, perhaps some sweat as well. The taste is more of the vegetables, perhaps root vegetables other than pumpkin. The palate is medium bodied and textured with a clean finish. Overall, this is the first time Ive really tasted pumpkin in a pumpkin beer as it is usually buried amongst biscuity malt and spices such as cinnamon. A valent effort but it doesnt give me as much pleasure as the other Cromarty or Tempest beers.

Cask @ The Bon Accord. Hazy chestnut brown colour, good beige head. Mild pumpkin malt aroma. Dry dark chocolate & pumpkin flavour. Smooth with dry aftertaste. Not my sort of beer.
