2018-02-18. Black body, modest frothy tan head. 3++ Aroma is relatively mild but pleasant. Lighty dusty dark malt, light cocoa, muted roast, and a whisper of a nutty accent. Flavour is similarly subtle, lightly bitter throughout, light roast malt, hints at accents of caramel, treacle and nutty notes. Lightly bitter nutty toasty malt lingers in the finish. Smooth average bodied palate. On the subtle side at times but well balanced and flavourful, very nice. 7/4/7/3-4/16+ Bottle as Tempest Elemental Dark Ale from the LCBO via online order, Toronto.

16/20 a perfect porter in my book - not too carbonated, no grit, really smooth and really chocolaty. roasted malts, coffee. huge taste for low abv.

UPDATED: FEB 5, 2018 0,33 cl. Robe brune quasi noire. Nez : café, chocolat noir, malt grillé. Bouche : idem et légère amertume. Le tout est plutôt léger pour la catégorie, mais bien équilibré et agréable.

bottle from Oddbins Beer Shop, Blackheath. Black pour with a swiftly retreating tan head. Nose of coffee, licorice, raisin, plum pudding. Lots more coffee in the taste complemented by notes of chocolate nut and raisin. Good stuff.

Pours dark brown from the bottle. The thin, frothy tan head soon fades. Aroma is an intriguing chocolate and coffee mix. And coffee in a pleasant way—roasted and fresh. Not the notes of yesterday’s used up coffee grounds that plague a lot coffee additive porters—of which this is not. Taste is sweet with a roasted bitterness. There is a light berry tang at the finish. Pretty damn complex for a beer of such modest body and ABV. Nice!

Bottle purchased from Oddbins, Baker Street store, London. A very dark brown/black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate on the nose. Taste is similar, roasty, malty, fruity, chocolate and a hint of coffee with a bitter finale. Decent enough porter.

BOTTLE 33 CL as Tempest Elemental Dark Ale. Deep brown, beige head. Chocolate, light cramele, light winey notes. Robust yet easy drinking, chocolate, coffee, burnt grains, firm hoppy bitterness. Very nice.

Bottle from JK Fine Foods. Looks black with a nice light tan fluffy head. Very appealing. Looking forward to this. Aromas have a dark roast blending with a whiff of smoked cask. There's a smoothness like vanilla against a berry-fruit sharpness. The flavours have a lovely smooth chocolateyness offset with a sharp fruitiness and lingering roasted bitterness. A lovely feel to the beer with a medium to full body and dry mild sparkle. It says it's robust and robust it is. Lovely rich roast and fruity beer for warming fireside satisfaction. Winter is here.
