As leaves start to fall and days get colder, we prepare our latest batch of Harvest IPA.

For the uninitiated, Harvest IPA is our annually brewed Belgian IPA hybrid beer, pairing the distinctive flavours of our favourite house Saison yeast with the hops we feel complement it best and bring out different flavours with each edition.

This year's edition is single-hopped with premium grade Ekuanot hops from North America. Bursting with tropical and papaya aroma, its juicy citrus and mango characteristics lend perfectly to the classic earthy funk of the Saison yeast. With a dry finish and lasting yeast character, it's the ideal beer for tranistioning from the fresh, fruity flavours of Summer into darker days and colder nights in Autumn.

12/20 has the belgium yeast taste that i'm not the biggest fan off, but nice clean fresh taste, big flavour

Keg, Shilling Brewing company. Pours slightly hazy but bright gold with foam islands head. Grassy aroma with pineapple and Belgian yeast. Really fresh mouthfeel, bright, lively carbonation with loads of tropical fruit but a herbal and slightly dank background. So drinkable. Essentially a Saison ipa hybrid and it totally works.

Bottle delivered. Pale amber with a soft head subsiding. Scent is lovely saison/hefeweizen notes. Taste is lovely hopped saison. Finish is smooth. Fruity aftertaste of maybe orange. Very great.

Pale blond with light haze. Aroma and flavour are very grainy and earthy. Light tropical fruit. Dry yeasty finish. It doesn't work for me.

Borefts IX, Day 2. Keg. Almost clear gold beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Thin malts bring a light dry creamy sweetness. Hops bring mildly bitter pine, good peachy fruits and a trace of tropical fruits. Mild spice. Light dry finish, mild bitter linger. Nice hoppy fruits but a bit dry.

Tap at Druggists, Singapore. Poured a hazy straw colour with a bubbly round white head. The aroma is malt, Belgian style yeast, dry hop. The flavour is moderate to strong bitter with a yeasty malt, dry, light fruit, light spicy hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

330ml bottle. Pours slightly hazy gold. Pineapple, mango, banana, bubblegum, lemon, honey. Good body. Nice.

Bottle from an Edinburgh bottle shop. Looks nice with a light hazy bright gold and an off-white bubbly head. Aromas have a light citrus, something like tangerine. There’s a Belgian peppery spice with a little wild/sour ale finish. Taste has the light and fresh flavours of the nose with a mild sweet cider vinegar in the finish. This beer has heft but stays refreshing with a soft medium body and a moderate crisp sparkle. I liked this one.

22/IX/17 - on tap @ Borefts Bierfestival 2017 (Bodegraven) - BB: n/a (2017-1620) Thanks to ratebeerians and friends for sharing today's beers!

Clear orange to blond beer, small creamy white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: oh yes, that's the deal, tropical fruits, lovely stuff, pineapple, resinous, mango, pretty darn dank. MF: lively carbon, medium to full body. Taste: resinous, lots of grapefruit, hoppy, bit cheesy, decent, lovely bitterness, grapefruit. Aftertaste: bitter, lots of citrus, very resinous, bitter, grassy, dank finish. Lovely stuff.
