BARREL AGED IMPERIAL SCOTCH ALE
Our latest brew is an Imperial strength Barrel-Aged Scotch Ale. We have taken a traditional beer style and given it a modern day makeover — with a Tempest twist.
Brewed back in September 2012 using smoked malted barley courtesy of Teviot Smokehouse, and fermented using two different yeast strains specially produced for this beer in our brewery, you might be able to tell we’ve given this brew some extra TLC. It’s been cold matured in the brewery for six months in tank, bourbon and sherry casks, and then lovingly blended together into a powerful contemporary ale with plenty of history.
The resulting beer is huge on the nose with a hit of smoked stone fruit, wood, sweet malt, sherry and spice. Bottled and labelled by hand this ale is a rare breed indeed, and with limited availability it won’t be around for long. So get yours while you can.

UPDATED: JUL 4, 2017 Fine mix of wee heavy and barrel aged beer. Barrel rather detectable, some discreet notes of vanilla and plum jam, notes of wee heavy are detectable too. Some smoke note. Alc. is rather detectable, but not very rough. Not wonderful, but fine beer.

Kolor ciemny bursztyn z minimalna piana. Na pierwszym planie whiskey, suszone owoce i estry. Zdecydowanie wyczuwalna beczka drewniana i rozgrzewajacy alkohol. Polpelne cialo i niskie wysycenie.

Beczka wyraźna, dobrze wkomponowana w piwo, wyraźna Speyside Whisky i nuty drzewne. Sporo ciemnych owoców, rodzynki, winogrona, figi, jabłko, dużo nut estrowych. Degustacyjne. Przyjemna whisky i drewno w posmaku w ustach. Piwo dobrze ułożone, zbalansowane, mocne, ostre, intensywne, bardzo smaczne. 8/4/8/4/16

On tap @ Edinburgh Beer Festival. Heavy scotch vibes but also some caramel to offset those strident flavors, tastes a bit boozy but in a warming way, nice lacing

Strong whiskey on the nose. Woodsy flavour with long whiskey finish. I personally don’t like whiskey, but objectively think this is a good barrel aged brew for those who do enjoy such tastes.
