Bottle. Clear gold with a dense white head that last really well. Aroma of lemon, light honey, nectarines, some nutty/ husky notes which I suppose is the soba. Light bodied, not as carbonated in the mouth as it looks in the glass. Taste has grainy crackers and stone fruit sweetness, balanced by citrus flavours and modest bitterness. Clean and subtle.
Nice fruit hop and caramel aroma. Cloudy golden amber colour with good head. Bitter up front with some malt character. Med body and carbonation

No BB noted. Poured a translucent honey amber colour with a four- to five-finger white foamy head that diminished slowly. Laced as clingy suds. Aroma of sweet caramel malt and earthy hops. Rich golden, cloudy clearing body. Little gas and creamy head settling soon to slightly scummy edge. Good flavour with malt hops and caramel notes. Reminiscent of Squires Golden Ale. Nice drop.

From a 330ml bottle on 26/7/2013. Pours a slightly cloudy golden with a small head. Has a decidedly odd aroma, featuring a combo of fruit and (as noted by others) rubber. The flavour is also odd, but odd in a good way. There’s lots of lemon against a background of bready malt and grain, but the main feature is the distinct lingering, zesty bitterness at the back. The body is full to medium and carbonation lively. Unusual and enjoyable.

This golden, fizzy ale gives off a little lemon and floral notes before aromas of rubber, dust and - indeed - plain noodles take over. It has a vey full-on taste, with that rubbery, grainy flavour almost coating the tongue before honey, spice, pine and lemon kick in to give it some real go. Aroma is old shoes and old rubber, accompanied by buckwheat, plus a bit of malt. Appearance is perfectly golden, with a nice white head. Taste is disappointing with touches of harsh bitterness with not much malt. Palate is boring bar a touch of residual buckwheat texture. Overall, a very mediocre beer. I thought SOBA was the Society of Beer Advocates, but buckwheat hey, who would have funked it all gluten free and all!? Deep, orange hued copper with a bad case of the sea monkeys. Head is little more than a faint skin of white. Aroma is dominated by the aforementioned giving it a woody, somewhat spicy and raw character that is undeniably buckwheat-ish. Similar on the palate with just a few enhancements. There is notes of macadamia and almond, brine, pine and a herbal weedy bitterness in the tail end that is long lived upon the palate after each sip. Piney and floral throughout also; the hops are artisinally integrated. This is a tasty brew. Credit for using such a robust and difficult grain. Found this one delicious! Tap at Beer Deluxe. Nice combination of apricot and peach esters with subtle citrusy hops in the aroma. Hazy amber colour and tastes correspondingly thickish, with a disproportionately big mouthfeel. Thoroughly fresh flavours, though not a great deal of definition. Fresh malty sweetness, slightly gluey esters, not much hop character but finishing dry enough and eminently drinkable. No idea what the buckwheat does.
