Ruby brown in colour and weighing in at 7.0% ABV, UNIFIKATOR is a wonderfully complex Weizenbock… with a difference. The seductive aroma of dark fruit blends beautifully with light banana esters and spicy phenolics, courtesy of Weihenstephan’s iconic yeast strain. While a backbone of dark German wheat and Munich malts provides a familiar structure of rich melanoidins and bready malt, the judicious use of both malted and chocolate rye adds a spicy dryness to the palate, with gently warming alcohol balancing the finish. Extended cold maturing provides a smooth and distinctive mouth feel. Eminently drinkable, it’s sure to please beer lovers and connoisseurs alike.

Decent weizenbock, nice hefe yeast character. Malt a little thin which wouldn't be a problem if the malt character didn't have a slight solventy finish. Alcohol too recognisable as a result. Still a decent beer though! Some dark bock overtones present. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at RBJG#2 - Grand Tasting Tim’s Place. Clear brown - offwhite head. Roasted, grainy, light cereal, cocoa, light banana, bitterness, milk chocolate, Simple.

My Bottom Line:
Blatant caramel envelops light phenolics and wooden hops for a lean, serviceable Weizenbock.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam tops the misty copper.
-Carbonation is not expansive enough for the style.
-Malts also share toasty notes.
-Nose is quite bland for the style.
-This brew might have been well conceived but it was a massive disappointment for me since my expectations for anything that Weihenstephaner touches are sky high. This is so far from the quality of Vitus…

Bottle at RBJG2. Clear amber color. Aroma is sweet and boozy with a bit of medicinal caramel. Taste is dilute caramel and brownies.

Was hoping for something special here - what I got was a thick, moderately unbalanced heavy weizen. Lacking finesse or charm, it came off a bit clunky, which is surprising given these two names, especially weihenstepaner. Bready, phenolic, banana, date and stewed plums.

Bottle at RBJG 2 Grand Tasting. Brown colour with a white head. Plum fruit aroma. Flat carbonation. Bland caramel fruit flavour.

moderately sweet malty sweet milk chocolate and bananas. Not so interesting or balanced.

Bottled. Dirty dark brown with lace. Very estery, fruit flavors, sweet chocolate covered fruits, banana, cloves. OK. Not as good as I might have hoped.

500mL bottle. Pours hazy amber-gold with a thin off-white head. Strong phenolic aroma with some fresh fruit and malt. Mild bitterness and sweetness, slightly bready flavour on top of the fruit and malt. Medium body, average carbonation but lots of creamy foam forming on the palate, and a lingering bitterness.

500ml bottle. Brown cola like colour with a steady head that looks the goods. Packed with big fruity aromas mixed with spice and some banana also thrown into the mix. Great flavour with a really smooth mouthfeel.

Davros (3362) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - SEP 22, 2012
Pours dark copper with ruby tints and a large head. Nose shows doughy wheat, over-ripe bananas, caramel, cloves, golden syrup and sultanas. Sweet flavours, again showing doughy notes and lots of golden syrup. Also some cloves and alcohol. Too much carbonation.
