Lemon cake, lemon bread, and lemon poppy seed. Curacao orange peel and spice in the back. Paprika and flower petals. Ginger root and white pepper. Green tropical fruit esters on top and in the middle.
First impressions are of a lovely summertime quaff. Just as the nose, lemon cake, lemon breads, and lemon poppy seed cake with a curacao orange zest icing on top. Spice in the finish and in my breath. Paprika, cardamom, and ginger in the middle. Tropical greenness along the edges for a touch of tart refreshment – guava and starfruit.
Another fine session from Matt Webster of Tequesta Brewing Co. out of Tequesta, Florida. My overall impressions were of a Saison and Belgian White hybrid and it worked.
8/5/12. On tap at Green Room. Lightly hazed golden pour with a small off-white head. Light spicy Belgian yeast aroma with some fruitiness and bubblegum. Draft... Hazy golden ale with a mid-sized, frothy, white head. Decent retention. The bouquet is bursting-at-the-seams with fruity esters, spicy phenols and floral hops - lemon peel and tangerine really stand out. Full-bodied with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and prickly carbonation. Even when warmed, the flavor leans a touch bitter, providing fuzzy fruits, minerals and lightly sweet biscuit malt. Finishes fruity, moderately bitter and a touch sandpapery.
