COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

ShivanDragon (4120) - Leeuwarden, NETHERLANDS - OCT 21, 2014

Alengrin (5369) - BELGIUM - OCT 17, 2014
Another top fermented sweet cherry beer, since 2005. Moussy, dense, sticky, pinkish to pale lilac head, cherry red colour with a somewhat amber hue, misty. Aroma dominated by a candy-like cherry sweetness (strawberry icecream, red candy), with a lemony sourish touch and some faint caramelly malts. Sourishly sweet, lemonade-like onset with strong carbo, releasing a glimpse of sweetish malts but quickly losing itself in a thick, syrupy, grenadine- and jam-like, cloying sweetness, which is the last thing happening in the palate. I basically bought this for rating purposes, I guess I’ll never like sweet fruit beers anyway. But I did have worse than this, even.

ganache (5898) - New Jersey, USA - SEP 14, 2014
11.2 oz bottled as Ter Dolen Kriek. Nose is tart cherry, red and black with light sugary character but not yet excessive. Pours a dark pink with a light pink head, a rich ruby body held under light but still opaque. Taste is crisp and strongly carbonated without being fierce, cherry juice is just super intense (probably closer to cherry juice with alcohol added than beer with cherry), sugar not as noticeable going down but certainly in the aftertaste and on the chompers. Fullish body, clean, very sweet and summery, at which time I’d probably want to drink faster than this would allow (a bit syrupy in its volume, and cloying at high speeds).

Trappist1 (646) - Diest, BELGIUM - AUG 27, 2014
Red, ruby, pink head. Nose. Sweet cherries. Taste. Cherries, sweet, very cherry. Long sweet stretch. Refreshing. Alternative enough to be not a sweet Kriek, but that is all.

mikske79 (1666) - Puerto Plata, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC - AUG 16, 2014
Een goed kriekbier, niet te zuur, niet te zoet. Net het goede evenwicht gevonden zoals het hoort

bhensonb (15191) - Woodland, California, USA - AUG 5, 2014
Bottle from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours quite rose with a pink tinged head. Aroma is cherry, but more like cough syrup than kriek. Med body or so. It is a little tart, but there’s a lot of sugar, and the cherry is muddled in the mix. Actually it’s cherry, so that’s a plus. It’s lightly, barely, tart, so that’s sort of a plus. But there’s just too much sugar for it to be pleasing.

marcus (10222) - Sacramento, California, USA - JUL 21, 2014
Bottle from Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours red with a huge pink head and a cherry aroma. There is a very sweet cherry flavor with nothing else. Not a traditional kriek by any means.

DJoer (1291) - NETHERLANDS - JUL 4, 2014
Medium rouge rose head, red a bit pink coloured body, sweet fruity cherry tinteling smell, sweet a bit thick cherry some sour medium carbonation a bit siruppy

Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 23, 2014
Bottled. Poured eerie reddish-brown with a light ring of pink-tinted head. The aroma picked up very sweet cherry juice and a touch of oak.. smelled like candy. The flavor found similar.. candied, mostly sweet cherries at the core, with light cherry tartness and more sticky sugars extending outward.. finished very sweet and cherry-y. Lighter-bodied with low-moderate carbonation.. tasty, but too much like candy.

Ferris (15270) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 4, 2014
Bottle - Intense cherry flavors. Cloudy pinkish red with a pink bubbly head. Tons of cherry, very sweet and syrupy. Thick and cloying. Not as horrible as I expected from the reviews, but definitely a small glass maybe with or as desert.
