Draft at the source. Opaque dark brown color, beige head with solid lacing. Aroma of cocoa and light pine. Taste has bitter coffee and pine. Tasty. SpringsLicker (3616) - Tennessee, USA - OCT 23, 2011
2011 Knoxville Brewer’s Jam
Dark with a tan head.
The roast malt in this moves it close to Stout territory yet the hop profile sends it towards the IPAs.
Black IPAs are still being defined, and they are going to have to work harder in order to differentiate themselves from the two styles and so become a unique style in themselves. Suttree (6358) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - OCT 23, 2011
Sampled at Knoxville Brewer’s Jam, 2011. Deep red, almost black. Nice sized head. Coffee and pine aroma. Flavor dry an woody hops, with some coffee in the finish. Pretty enjoyable. Shag (2987) - Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA - OCT 18, 2011
Dark brown color with a beige head. Aroma contains caramel, toffee, and citrus. The flavor is bitter with some lemons, caramel, toffee, and chocolate. More IPA than anything else. Overall a good beer.
