12 oz. bottle. Dark brown with a medium, tan head. The aroma is caramel, cut grass, chalk, and milk chocolate. The flavor is malty sweetness, with a nice mild bitterness in the finish. Medium body, a little astringent, and thick. Overall, this is a nice winter warmer, with a delicious low-level bitterness. poisoneddwarf (2599) - Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, USA - DEC 28, 2012
12 oz bottle. Pours cloudy brown with a thick beige head with good retention; leaves a little lace. Aroma consists of cooked cabbage, caramel. Taste is malty sweet with a lightly bitter finish; a bit garbagey. Nothing wrong with the palate. Overall, an unimpressive winter warmer--a bit boring. Half finger of head on a dark and cloudy brown colored body.
Smell is all rich dark fruit with a little barnyard yeast.
Strong flavor of plum. Alcohol and bitterness bring up the end.
Crisp texture with a lower carbonation and medium body.
A nice dig on the Old Ale style. A winner in the Winter Ale category. Shink (177) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 1, 2012
Out of the bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a light brown head. Smell is a little sweet and malty. This beer is a very good mix between sweet and bitter. A very good seasonal from a good brewery. Pailhead (6543) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - NOV 22, 2012

Bottle: The aroma consists of toffee, caramel, light wood, and some oxidation. It pours a somewhat cloudy orangish-brown with a small beige head that quickly fades to a thin film. The flavor starts with caramel and toffee. The finish has some aged citrus hops and oxidation. It’s medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, it tastes like a aged and oxidized Barley Wine.

Aroma of flowers, pine, caramel.
Amber pour with little off white head and a bit of lacing. Pine, and caramel, throughout with hoppiness at the end. brianprentiss (702) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAY 24, 2012
not my favorite style so I’ve tried to be generous. it’s a great beer anywhere but Portland, here it’s only good. 19Ei8hty (1166) - Washington, USA - MAR 27, 2012
Hearty dark malt body. Rich and dripping with winter beer seasonings. Sweet toffee notes with raisin and caramel. Some brown sugar character and perhaps a bit of rye spice. Grass and orange peel. DrinkEmUpJones (1069) - Georgia, USA - FEB 11, 2012
Pours cloudy red brown. Light brown sugar aroma. Palate is light with a little caramel. Ok, but not exactly a warmer. AmEricanbrew (6878) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - DEC 27, 2011
Clear copper/ rust color with ivory sheen. Nice spicy caramel, pit fruit, toffee, floral, herbal aromas. Medium bodied. Bittersweet flavors of spicy, grainy caramel, dark bread, herbal floral hops, with a drying bitter twang to finish--good
