Half finger of head on a dark and cloudy brown colored body.
Smell is all rich dark fruit with a little barnyard yeast.
Strong flavor of plum. Alcohol and bitterness bring up the end.
Crisp texture with a lower carbonation and medium body.
A nice dig on the Old Ale style. A winner in the Winter Ale category.

It pours a deep reddish brown that is virtually black with a good 1cm of beige foam.
The aroma is lovely rich maltiness: raisins, maple syrup, toffee, molasses - smells like something that was either was in a barrel or should be.
Full bodied, malty sweet caramel, bitter, smoked maple and all in all a decent winter beer. RoyOD (1) - Portland, Alabama, USA - NOV 15, 2015 does not count
Ugh...Liquid Smoke, bitter and boring.
Where’s the malt? Another homage to the bitter sensory deprived. Cough drop mjg74 (3157) - La Mesa, California, USA - APR 26, 2015
Bottle from Lifesource. Deep amber in color. Nose is fairly rich and roasty. Some dark fruit and a little candy sugar. Malts and dark fruit up front with a pretty good hoppy kick in the end. Enjoyable winter brew. julesjis (256) - Oregon, USA - MAR 13, 2015
Poured from a 12. Has a nice strong ale aroma. Flavor is slightly bitter, caramel and creamy. Doesn’t have all the crazy, overspiced flavor to it, which is awesome! Great seasonal beer! maxwelldeux (4374) - Snohomish, Washington, USA - JAN 26, 2015
Bottle. Pours a hazy dark amber color with an impossibly tick light tan head on there. Nose has some grains and caramel to it. Taste is a bit of alcohol, leading me to believe it’s stronger than it is, and reminds of a barleywine with that caramel.

UPDATED: DEC 27, 2014 (Bottle) I like it! Slightly on the bitter side but still with some heavy sweetness. A good stronger ale. One of my favorite "six-pack" beers. alliance100 (1159) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - SEP 22, 2014

On tap at the Terminal Gravity brewpub in Enterprise, OR. Pours a dark semi-red brown with tan head. Aroma of candied fruits and malts. Taste is mostly malty with a somewhat bitter hop aftertaste. Pretty well-balanced. Sticky mouth-feel, not too heavy. fiulijn (21022) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 2, 2014
Bottle from Whole Foods on Westlake, Seattle; 8.4% ABV
It pours a cloudy dark amber to brown color with generous creamy head. Mild caramel aroma, with a hint of mature apples. Good body, with moderate sweetness; strong caramel flavor, again a hint of apples which is not a positive sign, then the expected strong bitterness, and some hop resins; some nuts in the final.
Not bad, but unexciting.
