It pours a cloudy dark amber to brown color with generous creamy head. Mild caramel aroma, with a hint of mature apples. Good body, with moderate sweetness; strong caramel flavor, again a hint of apples which is not a positive sign, then the expected strong bitterness, and some hop resins; some nuts in the final.
Not bad, but unexciting.
Bottle from Belmont Station. Pours hazy dark glowing amber with a beige creamy head. Aroma is quite malty with some floral aspects. Med body. Flavor is an English ESB morphing into a barley wine. Quite nice. Ferris (15020) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 13, 2013

UPDATED: OCT 10, 2013 Rose 7 Raindrop in Portland. Cloudy dark red/brown color with a dark tan head. Very strong and solid nose of woody plums, all sorts of alcohol, plums, dark fruit and wood with a very noticable cascade hop note. Strong flavor initially, seems high alcohol... wood, scotch, strong and thick texture, dry and scratchy near the finish... this is a great winter ale.

Clear copper/ rust color with ivory sheen. Nice spicy caramel, pit fruit, toffee, floral, herbal aromas. Medium bodied. Bittersweet flavors of spicy, grainy caramel, dark bread, herbal floral hops, with a drying bitter twang to finish--good 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - APR 24, 2013
Bottle:   Dirty caramel, amberish hues, large frothy tannish head, nice lacing.   Candied citrus peel and caramel malt nose.   Smells tasty.   A bit of an astringent pithy citrus peel start, fades quickly, leaving
a slightly mealy/grainy malt background.   Smidgen of earthiness too.   Light alcohol, but it fades quickly.   Warming finish.   Not as malty/heavy/smooth as I would have liked.   However, its not light either.
A little rough around the edges.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finish is a little astringent, biting pith and citrus peel.   Decent bruiser, but could stand to be smoother. Pailhead (6539) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - NOV 22, 2012

Bottle: The aroma consists of toffee, caramel, light wood, and some oxidation. It pours a somewhat cloudy orangish-brown with a small beige head that quickly fades to a thin film. The flavor starts with caramel and toffee. The finish has some aged citrus hops and oxidation. It’s medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, it tastes like a aged and oxidized Barley Wine.
