Bomber courtesy of CraftBeerDesign (thanks Geoff!) poured a clear reddish amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of toffee, tobacco, rye, light bourbon and light oak. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of oak, toffee, rye, light fruittiness and light bourbon with a smooth lingering oak finish. Flat out kicks the Swiss versions ass! Aroma: The nose is rich caramel malts, with some bourbon, vanilla, molasses, and a little rye
Appearance: Pours a clear reddish color with a small beige head that leaves drippy lace
Flavor: This one is heavy malty, much like the nose component-wise, the caramel leads the way
Palate: This one is fairly full bodied, with a thickish, slightly sticky feel, and minimal heat
This was a pretty cleaver Barleywine. Somehow it sits there with minimal heat at 10%+. The caramel malts dominate, and the bourbon barrel aging adds a nice component. Rather good stuff. I’m glad I tried it.

2011 bomber. Pours deep copper with thin white head. Armoma of bourbon, raisin and caramel. Silky mouthfeel with no carbonation to speak of. Bottle. The strong alcohol-laden aroma wafted to my olfactory glands the instant I cracked this top. Poured deep, furniture-stain-brown, the head but a quick fizzle. Murky brown with a decent off white head which dissipates quickly. Aroma is dark fruit, mainly raisins. Flavor is raisins with hops and a little sticky resin flavor. The beer pours an orange-amber color with a white head. The aroma is full of toffee and caramel malt, with some nice brown sugar qualities. The flavor is a bit different. I get some nice oak notes, as well as some toffee and rye. There is also a bit of dark cherry in the flavor. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
