Not as tasty or intruiging as the other version. Caramel, woodiness, and slight, slight bourbon are in this one but it isn’t coherent. BeerandBlues2 (14018) - Escondido, California, USA - MAR 14, 2013

22oz bottle. Poured a deep orange / amber color with an off white head. Aromas of toffee, some oaky/woodiness, caramel, grains and a trace of bourbon. Tastes of caramel, vanilla, brown sugary, dark fruits, bourbon, and some wood. slowrunner77 (13171) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 22, 2014
"Pretty nice biscuit malt forward barleywine. The 1/3 bourbon barreled blend leaves me wanting a little more barrel presence, though it comes out nicely as it warms. Depending on the bourbon, 50 50 is about perfect. Little hop presence, though there is some back-end bitterness. Overall, pretty nice, though not a standout."

Very boozy, this characteristic dominates the taste. The bourbon is not as flavourful a choice as could have been made. Some rye edge, more just big malting. generous retained head on an Amber coloured body.
Doug’s bottle.So-so drinkability.
