Not as tasty or intruiging as the other version. Caramel, woodiness, and slight, slight bourbon are in this one but it isn’t coherent. hopdog (12575) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 9, 2013

Very boozy, this characteristic dominates the taste. The bourbon is not as flavourful a choice as could have been made. Some rye edge, more just big malting. generous retained head on an Amber coloured body.

"Pretty nice biscuit malt forward barleywine. The 1/3 bourbon barreled blend leaves me wanting a little more barrel presence, though it comes out nicely as it warms. Depending on the bourbon, 50 50 is about perfect. Little hop presence, though there is some back-end bitterness. Overall, pretty nice, though not a standout."
