Foil wrapped, 22oz bottle. Vintage 2011. Toasted brown color, thin ring. Aroma of barley tea made of loads of toasted barley. Sweet bourbon, toffee, raisin, hints of chocolate, honey & caramel. It just smells like fucking candy. Tastes of toffee, toasted grains, oak, almond cookies, brown sugar, dark fruits. More of an English-style BarleyWine. Very soft, extrememly smooth. There is NO alcohol in this bottle at all. Perfectly balanced.

Having sampled the BFM version, I was fully expecting something similar (slightly tart/sour). This one was nothing even close to a sour. Not one bit of tartness or vinegar or noticeable bacteria of any kind. So my initial response was disappointment, but after getting past that, I realized I was drinking a really good barleywine! Clear copper/brown pour with very faint offwhite head. notes of black cherry, plum, leather, and not overly sweet. Smooth, almost mellow body seemed like this beer had been sitting for 3 years already. The abv was very well hidden - not hot or boozy in the least. Great to sip on. Murky brown color. Aroma is slightly wild yeast with a bit of cherry to it. Flavor is deep red fruit, some vanilla, and wood from the ageing. Pours hazy medium brown. Almost headless, very oily appearance pouring.
Aroma is nutty, with dates, caramel, molasses and vanilla.
The flavor follows the aroma. Sweet, full bodied sipper. Some hop bitterness in this but for the most part it’s a malt forward type BW.

Delicious barley wine. Aroma was nice. Toffee, caramel and roasted malt. Pour was a milk chocolate brown with a thin off white film for a head. Taste was big and malty. Sweet brown sugar, caramel and milk with a sticky toffee finish. No hops to speak of. As it warmed, the bourbon came out. Vanilla and bourbon were just a hint, but present. Light carbonation. 11/20/2012. From bottle. Brownish color with a tan head. Malty aromas with the bourbon showing well. A little sweet at first with oak and dried fruit. Warm alcohol towards the end.
