Bottle from my parents, shared at Chad’s birthday. Brown pour with a white head. Aroma is lots of bready spice and tons of caramel. Taste is rye, brown sugar, caramel, rye, a little alcohol, and a good finish. TheGB (578) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 11, 2013
Pours brown with little head. Aroma is of sweet malt and some bread. Taste is pretty sweet with a lot if malt, a little hops, and a hint of bourbon. Palate is decent, but pretty sweet. For 1/3 bourbon barrel aged, I don’t get much bourbon. XmnwildX12 (2079) - Farmington, Minnesota, USA - APR 25, 2013
Bottle share by Brian, ruby/golden color with sparse white head. Aroma is a lot of pine, bit of malt as well. Taste is pine and a bit of caramel sweetness, bit of off flavors.

Delicious barley wine. Aroma was nice. Toffee, caramel and roasted malt. Pour was a milk chocolate brown with a thin off white film for a head. Taste was big and malty. Sweet brown sugar, caramel and milk with a sticky toffee finish. No hops to speak of. As it warmed, the bourbon came out. Vanilla and bourbon were just a hint, but present. Light carbonation. Bottle in fridge, to my glass. Pours a cloudy amber color, not much head. aroma is all malt bomb, in your face sweetness. My teeth hurt a bit. Taste is syrupy, sweet, bitter a bit. Finish is almost drying, some fruity aftertaste. taste better than it smells. But now I read the description, bourbon barrels? could have fooled me, dont get that much. But still this beer aint to bad. changeup45 (1731) - Lake Mary, Florida, USA - DEC 22, 2012
Bottle labeled as 2011. Dark reddish-brown pour with really not much of a head to speak of. There still seems to be quite a bit of spotty lacing clinging to the glass after each sip. The aroma has molasses, plum, caramel, wood, and a little bourbon. The flavors are pretty much the same; it is on the sweet side with a lot of caramel and toffee-like notes. Some cherry mixes in here with a slightly tangy finish. The bourbon, again, doesn’t go unnoticed but is mild, which was expected seeing how only 1/3 was aged in it. This is a decent all around barleywine with the mild bourbon and woody character adding another element. Seems a bit young and might be a little better with some additional time in the bottle. Murky brown with a decent off white head which dissipates quickly. Aroma is dark fruit, mainly raisins. Flavor is raisins with hops and a little sticky resin flavor. Body is a little thin and it finishes slightly watery for all the flavor in the foreground. Decent, but not awesome. Fritz123 (1535) - Boca Raton, Florida, USA - FEB 27, 2013
Draft in snifter. Pours a hazy reddish-brown. Modest head and nice lace. Aroma of malt and bourbon. Taste is thick and alcohol overtones. Certainly has the almost bourbon flavor with maybe some charcoal. Also has spices such as nutmeg and cinnamon. Very good barley wine. Very rich. drowland (8629) - Georgia, USA - MAR 4, 2013
Bottle awhile back... not sure why I never rated. Rich brown pour with a decent khaki head. Slight BA aroma with earthiness and mustiness. Laid back malty flavor with a touch of BA and earthiness. Underwhelmed.
