Bottle from Captain Couger. Pours Reddish with restrained but noticeable foam, in my anti-gravity glass.Very very smooth, though hoppy. Alcohol hits you without noticing in taste. Malty, satisfying, though not overly complex. Well balanced. slowrunner77 (12466) - Reno, Nevada, USA - OCT 7, 2014
08 vintage...8.3 abv on label...imperial red ale on label. as an imperial ipa it would have failed completely. too malty for an ipa, and almost too malty for a Ired too. no telling what month of 08 thi was bottled, and it tasted past it’s prime, with descriptors in our party of wet cardboard and dirt. had potential though. it looked and felt great. big full body. sweetish malts were bigger than the not so fresh hops (no floral, only bittering effect left). maybe this was better last year at some point. i hope so based on the rating, but it was an average beer and a subpar imperial tonight. too bad..."

Bottle thanks to Dan! Poured a hazy amber red with a gray head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had a nice pine hop note with a slight backing citrus note and a hint of darker sweet grain. Flavor had strong pine throughout but was balanced by the presence of a grain note. madsberg (11774) - Søborg, DENMARK - NOV 27, 2009
