It pours dark brown with a tan head that leaves a perfect ring of lacing. The aroma is primarily the malt with just a hint of hop undertone. The taste is quite similar. It’s like a rich brown. Pretty full in body and rather complex. I think this "hybrid" works! It’s different, tasty, and pleasant on the palate. Surprisingly well balanced and well done! Jrwhitney6 (496) - - JUN 10, 2013
Pours a brown ale (clear, brown) and smells like an IPA (citrus, pine). The IPA comes through a little stronger with the taste, with the grapefruit up front and a slight bitterness of the hops on the finish. In between, some malt from the brown ale. It's a nice combination.

UPDATED: JUL 31, 2013 Pours milk chocolate brown with a light tan head. Aroma heavy malt with hints of hop. Oily mouth feel with a dry finish. Less hop character then I would expect from a Brown IPA it lends itself more toward a straight up brown ale. Delicious and solid. devman171 (1221) - Annapolis, Maryland, USA - JUN 7, 2013
bottle pours dark amber with big head. Aroma roasted malt and grassy hops. Taste is bitter roast, easy drinking, pretty good, like a hoppy porter AZBennett (114) - Chandler, Arizona, USA - MAY 29, 2013
Bottle courtesy of Biggsbowler. Pours a nice rich brown with a decent off white head that fades quickly. Aromas are citrus and floral hops, then a nice caramel dose and finally some bread. Flavors are mellow citrus hops, then a big dose of caramel malts, followed by some burnt sugar sweetness and a finish that is grassy and bitter. Palate is a little thin and undercarbonated. Overall, this is an excellent beer if taken by itself, but the style is an oxymoron in and of itself; let’s call it and India Brown Ale which makes more sense than any other moniker these beers go by. Still nice to drink.

Very dark brown with a frothy light beige head. Decent lacing. Aroma of spice, chocolate, roast, and biscuits. The taste is roasted and a little chocolaty bitter and a little off. Medium bodied; a little creamy and a little dry. Ok. ljstephenson (250) - Enterprise, Alabama, USA - MAY 27, 2013
Disappearing thin beige head. Aroma is strong toasted toffee & biscuit, some malt. Flavor is again toasted biscuit & some caramel. Finish is slightly dry with some bitterness. Interesting combo with IPA & Brown ale, but seems to work.

This would be my 2nd fav IPA with the turtles. This is just behind hopzilla and in front of hopsecutioner. The brown ale meshes well. Ed5388 (3478) - Forked River, New Jersey, USA - MAY 19, 2013
22oz bomber. Pours a deep brown color with a finger of tan head. Aromas of grapefruit, caramel, pine, and roasted malt. Tastes is similar. Grapefruit, mild pine, roasted malt, mild bitter finish, with a hint of caramel. DCLawyer (2845) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - MAY 19, 2013
