Growler at flossmoor. Brown pretty clear color. Aroma and flavor of pine and light earthiness to it. Had a pretty nice aftertaste to it. drewbeerme (3921) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 30, 2007
growler shared at DLD. nose of a lawn mower bag full of freshly cut grass. what happened here? every time someone opened it the whole area stunk. yep that’s my rating. holdenn (2127) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 30, 2007
Growler shared at DLD. Nutty aroma hoppy with pine, and chocolate ... interesting combo. Light brown in color with a beige head. Bakers chocolate, carmel, nutty, and some piney bitterness. Interesting beer. sliffy (2040) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - APR 29, 2007
Growler shared at Flossmoor: Brown with a light tan head. Aroma, earthy notes, some caramel, and a hint of citrus. Flavor, caramel, piny earthy hops, a bit nutty, and on the sweet side. Pretty solid. OhioDad (2492) - Hilliard, Ohio, USA - APR 29, 2007
Growler shared at Flossmoor the night before DLD by someone. Pours pale brown with a short white head. Aromas of orange, blended with some nuts and caramel. Flavor is lots of orange and a good amount of pine as well. Caramel, nuts, and even a little chocolate under the hops. Medium bodied but a little to the watery side on the palate.

On tap at Tylers in Durham. Mostly clear reddish brown color with a substantial cream head. Caramel and chocolate in the aroma with a bit of tangerine. Flavor is citrusy upfront with tangerine dominating but chocolate coming in at the end. It reminds me of one of those chocolate orange things you can buy at gourmet shops. Really a fun beer to drink and very unique in the new world of IBAs. aracauna (3682) - Georgia, USA - APR 21, 2007
This really is pretty nice. It’s got a beautiful maltiness. Great nutty character, light on the sweetness, but it balances the bitterness from the hops well. Hop aroma really shines better in a less malty beer, so a lot of the subtleties of the hop aroma in an IPA are lost underneath the hefty malt notes here, but this is still a solid beer. You get a bit of pine and pith peaking through the toasted nuts here. Good stuff. jrob21 (3809) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - APR 18, 2007
It’s like beer mash ups. Take an IPA cross it with a brown and you have a hybrid beer way better than at least an original brown. The smooth maltiness of a brown combined with the hoppy, piney characeristics of an IPA. Nice one guys. unclemattie (4406) - Georgia, USA - APR 13, 2007
Tap at TacoMac. Dark Brown color. heavy hitting pine aroma. hop bitterness, nice and hoppy! My new favorite Turtle. CaptainCougar (7634) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - APR 11, 2007
On tap at kp’s: Pours a transparent dark orange copper with a nicely-lacing, frothy off-white head. Aroma has a ton of fresh piny citrusy hops and good sweet dark caramel malty notes. Body starts with a good malty sweetness and fairly full body with plenty of fresh piny flavor hops. Nicely-balanced and very drinkable, although not really true to style.
