Very dark, muddy, brownish color with a thin beige head. Decent lacing. Aroma of wood, vanilla, caramel, spice, and dark fruit. Boozy, woody, and dark fruity tasting with a mild bitterness. Medium-full bodied, kind of syrupy, very little carbonation left. Some dryness. DialSquare (5129) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAY 27, 2013
12oz bottle from Proof bottle shop. Brown pour with a thin khaki head. Aroma is caramel, the vanilla, and pine. Tastes are resiny citrus, toasted malts, oak. Less of the vanilla than I would have thought from the aroma. Nice sipper. TaktikMTL (7967) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 21, 2013
Bottle. Super dark red and nearly opaque, this has barely any head. The aroma is an assault on the olfactory senses, rich with dark fruit and alcohol. After that promise, this turns out to be a relatively easy drinker. It still has some amazingly rich flavors here, rich malts, raisin, merlot, vanilla, stained oak. Impossibly complex, yet improbably quaffable. Exceptional. (#5010, 5/7/2013) RobertDale (6847) - Lansing, Kansas, USA - APR 28, 2013
12 ounce shared bottle. Pours reddish brown with a small white head. Aroma of pine, citrus, and malt. Taste is grapefruit, caramel malt, pine, and oak. Nice DIPA.

Bottle. heavy malt aromas of dark bread, roasted and caramel, moderate hop note of cooked orange, light leather for the yeast, with raisin, wood, brown sugar and alcohol in the background. Head is tiny, frothy, off-white with some slippery lacing and is almost fully diminishing. Color is dark red/brown. Flavor starts moderately to heavily sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately sweet, lightly acidic and has a long bitterness at the end. Palate is medium t full, creamy with a soft carbonation and is moderately alcoholic and chewy in the finish. This beer leans more towards a Barley Wine than a DIPA, with that said this is one tasty beer. vvesside (256) - California, USA - APR 16, 2013
Great IPA with some of the best tasting malt I’ve had in any beer. Oaky, hoppy. Really a treat. Gachupines (1252) - USA - APR 15, 2013
Dark red with a thick off white head. Aroma is vanilla with some resin pine hops. Flavor is a big hit of vanilla oak followed by a bit of resinous hops. Very mellow finish with a touch of sweet malt. Phatdog1 (259) - Brentwood, New Hampshire, USA - APR 8, 2013
12 oz bottle, compliments of Sutree, poured into a Sam perfect pint. Beautiful blood orange color with thin off white head which almost completely disappears and leave virtually no lacing. Scent of oak, gingerbread cookies and hops. Some booziness on the nose. Initial flavor is oak which melts away into resiny hops and mellow boozy finish. Medium/ light on the palate. I expected a thicker more oily coating on the tongue. Although this is a great beer, I think that I was just expecting a bit more complexity. ganache (6053) - New Jersey, USA - APR 4, 2013
Bottle in celebration of Roger Ebert’s life (perhaps the first of several bottles this week). Nose explodes with fresh hops, heavy pine with some resin, bright citric accents, heavily caramel, some dough, a little dank. Some etoh seeping out, faint spice, faint vanilla, but otherwise minimal barrel. Pours a hazy amber-brown with a clingy tan head. Strong bitterness but balanced by strong sweetness, dripping with leafy hops and dull resin. Strips the palate a little bit, but strong caramel with dankness and pine, very strong alcohol heft but no burn, and despite the slight added depression, the alcohol presence doesn’t drag everything else down, and some of the citric notes shine through brightly. Still, a bit of muddle. Full body.
