12 oz bottle. The pour is a deep reddish-brown color with nice frothy tan head. Thin wisps of lacing slide along the glass but don’t stick. The roma has fresh-cut oak with resinous hops, and lots of caramel malt. It’s a good, fairly straight forward scent. The flavors show a lot of that as well. There’s sweet caramel, toasted almond, and bitter resinous hops with perhaps a splash of citrus. But it’s the oak that turns a pretty good beer into a very good one. The regular version of this beer is just an amped up red (not really my thing). The oak softens up the core flavors while adding another element. The oak isn’t overdone either where it’s the only thing I think about but it’s solidly there throughout. BREWMUSKCLES (2685) - New Jersey, USA - DEC 12, 2012
a juicy grapefruit citrus brew mellowed significantly right from the bottle with a lightly sweet banana flavor leaving it with quite a Belgian character. left alone in capped bottle overnight this one develops a Bourbon flavor and the Oaken woodiness comes on strong with alcohol and a woody finish. a bit of plasticy plum. deyholla (11597) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - DEC 10, 2012
Bottle. Pours a clear deep amber with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of pine hops with a hint of grapefruit with a bit of backing sweet grain and oakiness. Flavor has much more sweet grain with a hint of vanilla and oakiness with a good amount of bitter pine in the finish. Jabic (583) - Plainfield, Vermont, USA - DEC 7, 2012
Ar: Medium-dark caramel, some orange rind, clean booze.
Ap: Deep red - hazy - medium-small beige head with medium-low retention - leaves a thin ring and spotty covering of foam.
T: Burnt caramel and grapefruit rind, medium sweetness - strong citrus and sticky caramel - clean alcohol, vanilla, and some tannin - high bitterness.
P: Medium body with medium-high carbonation - finish is dry.
O: A big and caramel-laden hoppy beer - malt flavors are firmly caramel, with a roast accent - hop flavors still shine through boldly. Beerathon (1683) - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 7, 2012
Extremely interesting brew. The malt backbone almost seems like it is at the forefront. The hops are tantilizing. The mix of vanilla with an Imperial Red is truly unique and leaves a lingering taste that is unmatched and for that this beer gets kudos.

Appearance: Pours an opaque maroon.
Aroma: Aroma of caramel, vanilla from the oak.
Taste: Medium bitterness, light pine, lots of caramel, faint vanilla.
Palate:Medium body, slightly slick, lingering aftertaste.
Summary: A tasty beer, but I think I might prefer the regular non-aged verison with more hop punch.
(bottle) Murky reddish brown body with a small tan head. Rich malty aroma, moderate alcohol, dark fruit, citrus hops, pine, vanilla. Medium body, soft carbonation, silky texture. Flavor is strong in both alcohol and hops; resin; peppery, citrus, pine, raisin, molasses. pineypower (3325) - Ocean County, New Jersey, USA - DEC 2, 2012
Pours out an attractive deep ruby color with a small tan head. Aroma is of earthy wood chips, oak, caramel, citrus hops, and some pine, with light sticky malts and some vanilla. Taste is complex, with a full bodied mouthfeel. Malty caramel, oak, citrus hops, sticky alcohol, lots of wood and some warming on the end. Well done. dchmela (3062) - Orlando, Florida, USA - DEC 2, 2012
From the 12oz bottle. Pours a muddy brown with a thin off white head. Citrus hops and oak vanilla notes in aroma. Big malt body with a smooth vanilla oak taste. Oak cuts the big citrus hop bite and gives this a real nice big body, easy drinking smoothness. Damn nice brew. dmac (6259) - Toms River, New Jersey, USA - DEC 2, 2012
12 oz bottle from Dean, thanks brah. Poured a muddy medium brown body with a smaller light beige head that is foamy with some spotty lace. Aroma of oak, wooden barrel, vanilla, caramel, toast, orange slices, grapefruit, molasses, bitter earthiness. Fuller bodied with average to strong carbonation and just the slightest hint of heat towards the end of the swwallow, chewy and full overall. Flavor of caramel, molasses, grapefruits, oak, toast, hint of choclate, bread, corn syrup. Good stuff, a bit thick but very nice.
