Bottle best enjoyed by 1 (Month) 2 (Week) 15 (Year). Nose with lightly astringent scorched and burned black malt, pine and spice form the hops, lighter citrus and faint rind, mostly about the roast, though. Pours very dark brown with a dense tan head. Taste is dry with stouty black malt, medium bitterness but it’s smooth and integrated, very little prickle or sting anywhere here, even the carbonation is soft. Head develops into a more Belgian fluffer over time, which does seem to match the malt bill better. Fullish body, and surprisingly drinkable. Alc is hidden, clean throughout, and a pretty decent balance between two somewhat disparate elements (it’s reasonably close to halfway between). Smooth and souflul! snoworsummer (5697) - baltimore, Maryland, USA - JUL 21, 2014
From a bottle from lazy dog. Pours dark brown with copper undertones. Tastes like bitter roasted malt, bitter hops, burnt toast, and light citrus. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like sweet malt, toast, and light citrus hops. JHeath99 (1678) - Warner Robins, Georgia, USA - JUL 21, 2014
Bottle shared by sonnycheeba. Pours an opaque dark cola brown with a thin layer of tan head. Aroma of hops and some roasted malts. Taste of burnt malts and bitterness. sonnycheeba (5988) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - JUL 21, 2014
Bottle. Pours dark brown with creamy beige head. Aroma is roasted and chocolate malts, faint ash, light raisins, and some earthiness. Flavor is dry roast malts forward with medium earthy and chocolate bitterness, and some faint dark fruit notes; dry finish. Medium body and carbonation. jdb288 (584) - Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA - JUL 21, 2014
Fresh bottle from jbruner. Pours midnight black with little to no head. Aroma is s’mores, a bit of chocolate, fir tree, pine cone. Taste is sweet, light/medium body with decent amount of combination. Interesting play between the dark, roasty/chocolatey malt and hops (what style?). Not bad.

Dark brown pour. Instantly nice aroma of chocolate and citrus. Taste played well together with bitter hops and roasted Malta balanced. Good carbonation and medium feel. novice101 (308) - - JUL 14, 2014
this was a very different beer, I really enjoyed it. Loads of malts, slight chocolate flavor with hop bitterness coming through the back, loads of citrus with some grassy notes. Not as heavily hopped as I would have thought this beer to be Beergeek23322 (2602) - Chester, Virginia, USA - NOV 7, 2013
6/26/2010. From bottle. Black with a tan head. Hoppy aromas with dark malt, citrus, tropical fruit. Bitter flavors with good balance all the way. Chaneybr (52) - Washington DC, USA - AUG 27, 2013
A couple of BA traders have asked me about this beer when I told them I could get Terrapin. I bought one for someone, and then picked one up for myself to see what all the Hooplah was about:
Ap: Pours black as night, with a 1/2 inch head that left instantly, and carbonation to spare.
Ar: Not really strong in the aroma department, but what I’m getting reminds me of Coca-Cola - slightly bitter, with a hop sizzle.
T: Not at all vicious, actually very malty, and much smoother than I expected.
P: Frothy lacing and very creamy in texture. Very soothing.
O: Nothing really special about this one, but the beer itself is not too pretentious. Also, I REALLY love the bottle art! swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - JUN 19, 2013
Bottle, probably sat on this one too long. But it has aged well. Choclatety flavor, roasty, hops have diminished. Very flavorful, great mouthfeel, oily. Real nice.!
