3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Served in a snifter. Pours an opaque dark brown-near black with practically no head. Some lacing but minimal retention. Aroma is distinctly of peanuts, with milk chocolate and just a hint of alcohol in the background. Overall, the beer smells sweet, but peanuts, not peanut butter, drive the aroma. Taste more or less carries through the aroma, albeit more restrained. Slightly sweet due to roasted chocolate malts, followed by peanut. In sum, a beer that delivers peanut and chocolate in the aroma and taste but fails to deliver the Reese’s peanut butter cup experience. Essentially, one is left with an excellent porter that integrates peanuts--again, not peanut butter--very well and adds to the depth of the beer. Worth a try.
peanut M&M flavorings up the wazoo but it's what you should expect with such qualifiers before "porter," for that the mf is adequately creamy, just a tad sticky, something is missing in the core beyond the aromatics tho kerenmk (5168) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - AUG 1, 2017

Pours a deep brown with a khaki head. Aromas of chocolate peanut butter. Taste the same. The peanut butter is very nice. Not overpowering. A little smoky from the porter. Pretty good. oobawa (1736) - Tennessee, USA - MAR 8, 2017
Not sure why this beer doesn’t exactly work, but I’m guessing it’s the porter base, which seems a bit thin to be handling all these adjuncts. Peanut flavor is mostly restrained, not perking up until the back end and even then not exactly screaming Jif. (Didn’t know this was a peanut butter beer when I ordered it, so the fact I had to look up why it tasted so strange shows how unimposing the goobers are.) Chocolate adds a needed depth, yet the porter itself has very little character, offering up slight mocha notes and a weak feel. Neat recipe, not that great execution. gnoff (10928) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - FEB 9, 2017

Chocolate, cacao, milk taste. Chocolate aftertaste. Fizzy mouthfeel, low bitterness. Chocolate milk scent. Clear deep red color, tan head.
Bottle. Very Dark Brown in colour. Slight head. Very Malty: lots of dark chocolate, roasty nuts, some roasty malts, toffee, hints of coffee. No discernible fruit or hop taste. Sweet chocolatey nutty malty throughout. Quite dry. Bit salty in the finish. Rather artificial in taste. Didn’t like it. Not for me. Disappointing! (2014-12-09)

From a bottle. The peanut aroma and flavour is deliciously balanced, this is a perfect night cap beer.
