Appearance: Pours a dark brown
Aroma: Aroma of oak, malt.
Taste: Faint bitterness, too much oak
Summary: Oak-aged ales that are too much oak don’t seem to work for me,yet I keep trying them. Maybe I should stop.
released in mid 2012. it pours amber/brown with a thin and quickly dissipating head. cloudy to the eye. smells are dominated by dark fruits, raisins in particular combined with malty sweetness, toffee and some caramel. there a hint of alcohol as well. this is a medium full bodied beer, with a rich texture and moderate carbonation. astringency is strong on the palate. taste is raisins, honey sweet malts with some vanilla and wood notes. bitterness is at first diminished, but then combines with the significant astringency and grows well into the finish. - good candidate for aging but it might be past its ideal point. a hint of oxidation was detected in the flavor though not in the aroma - enjoyable nevertheless. swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - MAR 10, 2014

It’s dark tea colored with a fine coat of light caramel foam. Smells of oak, toffee, nougat, cola, vanilla and some dark turbinado sugars. Flavor is smooth and sweet with a cloying sugary-ness; toss in some vanilla, nougat, roasted malts, some raisin. Medium bodied with low carb and a dry finish. Aroma is sweet malts and maybe some (lightly acidic?) wood notes. really sweet taste too. I think i over-cellared this (i store in brown bags... this was labelled a 2011 Dragon’s Milk - a bit let down when i went yo open it). Anywho: palate was slick and finished roasty. Unclear - hazy medium amber colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, oak, wood. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate to light heavy bitter with a long duration, wood, alcohol - buzzy, oak, caramel. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light to moderate alcoholic. 
Bottle from JCB. Thanks! Deep red-brown pour with off-white to yellow head. Nose is sweet toasted malt and nuts, citrus/pine hopping, murky tropical pineapple/mango, and faint oak. Flavor is more scaled back and drier from the oak. Toasted malt, caramel, citrus/pine hopping, light fruity syrup and moderate oak. Gives it almost an herbal-like character mixed with the hops. 22oz bomber. Pours a dark copper/brown color with a foamy tan head. Aroma of caramel malts, vanilla, oak, and light tropical fruits. Taste is heavy on the oak, malty, hints of vanilla, and boozy. ganache (6057) - New Jersey, USA - JUN 22, 2013
Bomber. Beautiful doughy nose on crown removal with dank and immersive pine and spikes of citrus and floral compounds. Like the spicy hops. Deep caramel pour ends up in the dark brown range and supports a creamy tan head. Sweet taste to start, surprisingly strong anise before the wood aging becomes apparent, oak and vanilla but with the spicy hops gently poking through. Still a bit of lemony citrus flashing but this bottle isn’t exactly new; probably a good sign it’s holding up well, though. Light caramel and much lighter dough, fruit is muddled and minimized, berry yes but mostly dropped in favor of the barrel. Body is on the lightish side of medium, smooth and rounded. Less time in secondary, boys!

Lots of sediment... medium brown in color, so murky, with an off-white head.
The aroma is wickedly unique if you inhale hard enough. It’s like a dirty IPA
crossed with a malty amber and an English ale. It has a wicked nice hop nose
and is godly in the mouth with a touch of smoke, hops, alcohol, and heavy,
meaty malts that have a murky meatiness that almost negates most of the
beer’s sharpness. It finishes sweet and malty with a touch of earthy hops. The

Bottle from Appalachian vintner. Pours dark brown with a half inch of khaki foam. Has a bit of an inert hoppiness residue thing on the nose. Has a bit of oak on the tongue. Has a warming quality without a ton of alcohol burn. Eh!
