Taking the Orient and the rest of the world by storm, Krunkles returns! In this edition of the bearded IPA brewer’s saga, “Samurai Krunkles,” as he was once known in the Far East, pulls out all the hops from his katana’s sheath to make this Asian flared brew. While traveling around the Pacific in a souped up rickshaw pulled by his trusty side kick Cato, Krunkles uncovered unique brewing ingredients such as jasmine rice, jasmine green tea and the finest ginger the Orient had to offer for this Samurai master’s ale. this beer is very refreshing with a nice flavor of the green tea. its got a nice carbonated flavor. the malts are not too strong and the hops are clean as well. I think this is a winner.

I’m liking this one. Pours a clear amber with a thin white head. The aroma has an earthy malt essence with a bit of grass and bread. The flavor is crisp and clean with a nice bit of citrus and some lemon. A very nice after taste lingers.

Pours a hazy, dark golden orange color with a half finger white foam head that immediately fades into a thin ring. Minimal lacing left behind. Slightly herbal, floral hop aroma with some grassy pine, sweet malt and a prominent green tea presence. As it warms up the ginger starts to show but the strong malt presence overpowers the hops. Caramel sweetness with toffee, bread and biscuit. Medium bodied and a bit more complex than the nose suggests with a balance of earthy hops, peppery spice, herbal tea and sweet malts. Dry and bitter with spicy, grassy hops and a resinous pine flavor that’s nicely complimented by the zesty ginger. There’s also a subtle citrus flavor that nicely rounds out the hop profile before the green tea and malt backbone come through. Some sweet caramel and toffee leading into a slight dry finish. One of the more interesting recent entires in the Side Project Series.

Golden with a thin white lacing of head. Aroma is pine hops and mildly floral. Flavor is hoppy with a little ginger. Mouthfeel is very light which I associate with the use of rice. Overall, nice light IPA, could use a bit more body and malt to round it out. Enjoyed this, especially on a hot day, nice alternative to a heavy hop bomb.

22 oz. bottle. Pours gold with a small, off-white head. The aroma is wet leaves, pine sap, herbs, ginger, and sugar. The flavor is very bitter, and a little sweetness. The palate is medium, astringent, sticky, and fairly carbonated. Overall, this is a nice IPA, with a little more character and depth than most. Not bad.

Bomber from Proof. Gold pour with thin white head and spotty lacing. Interesting aroma - herbal, bready, tea, honey, bubblegum, floral. Taste is green tea, floral hop, ginger, soapy, and apricot. Strange one. Not really what I go for in an ipa but A for effort.

TheBeerGod (6261) - Newport News, Virginia, USA - AUG 30, 2012
Bottle. Golden amber with a short, foamy white head. Aroma is flowery and herbal with fruit notes, fresh cut flowers, earthy hops, and perfumey notes. Taste is sweet malt, fresh cut flowers, perfumey hops, earthy hops, herbal notes, tea leaves, soft spice, lemony notes and faint pine. Body is medium with a strong, bubbly carbonation. Ends with more herbal hops, earthy hops, flowers, sweet malt, tropical fruit, light pine, tea leaves and perfumey hops.
