Taking the Orient and the rest of the world by storm, Krunkles returns! In this edition of the bearded IPA brewers saga, Samurai Krunkles, as he was once known in the Far East, pulls out all the hops from his katanas sheath to make this Asian flared brew. While traveling around the Pacific in a souped up rickshaw pulled by his trusty side kick Cato, Krunkles uncovered unique brewing ingredients such as jasmine rice, jasmine green tea and the finest ginger the Orient had to offer for this Samurai masters ale. Thanks to Ian. Hazy light orange tan pour. Ginger and citrus aroma. Light malt, spicy ginger, tea and light hops in taste. Pretty good.

Pour on tap, hazy golden orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of bread, dough, some yeasty notes into a bit of some slight grainy, vanilla notes with a hint of herbal, grassy notes, some lemon. Taste was a mix of herbs, some grass, bread, lots of lemony, almost tea like notes into a bit of yeast, grain, finishing bitter.

Reviewed from notes. Rcvd in trade. Super glad I just found the notes on this. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking slightly bronzed golden orange color with a nice half fingered white foamy head that dissipates within a minute. Theres some light lacing that ends up sliding into the beer. The aroma had a nice light ginger leading unto a super light sweet "corn" maybe perhaps rice (but rice isnt exactly a substance to be smelled). Ill say its a grainy substance thats delicate and appealing. The taste was somewhat sweet and extremely inviting as every sip I had I wanted more somewhat quickly. There was a light sweet tea-like aftertaste and somewhat watery finish (but for the most part an acceptable watery finish). On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a pretty good sessionable quality running over my tongue. Overall, for the most part, Id say this was a pretty good IPA with some decent tea-like qualities in it to make it somewhat different. Still good for the style and not bad to me.

Bomber. Pours cloudy copper with offwhite head. Aroma is caramel malt and some piney hops. Taste is sweet; not too much green tea coming through. The jasmine and Ginger are interesting. Medium body. Just ok for me.

Appearance: Copper and orange under a khaki head which fades into a soft layer with lace that tries to crawl up and out of my glass.
Nose: Green tea, ginger, and black currants. Ginger bread and ginger cookies. Golden crunchy sugar cookies underneath. Mint jelly and green tea. Cinnamon and cocoa powder on top. Chamomile in the middle. Rustic quality of tree back in in the back.
Palate: Minty, herbal, and piney. Green tea and black chair. Pine, spearmint, and mint jelly in the breath. Biggest flavor profile in the middle with more chai, green tea, Andes Mints, and milk chocolate. Lavender, chamomile, and cherry blossoms in the back. Fern and Christmas trees.
Final Thoughts: Truly unique and I liked it quite a bit. Part Asian and part Holiday spirit, I wouldnt mind having the Samurai Krunkles again when the weather starts to cool off here in sunny Florida. Not all of the Side Project beers from Terrapin impress, but this one is a winner.

22oz bottle. Pours a dark golden color with a two finger bright white head with excellent retention. Smells of green tea, ginseng, honey, some spices and herbal hop resin, a touch of ginger fades into the background as well. Tastes of spices hit you at the front. The ginger, faint cinnamon, other herbs and spices mix with the resiny hops, slight green tea presence. Medium body with a fair amount of carbonation.

Bottle. Pours a clear yellow orange with a frothy large white head that leaves sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is floral hop and honey. Medium mouthfeel with sweet hop and ginger. Decent IPA.

22oz bottle in a tulip. Pours hazy copper with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of citrusy and floral hops, a little ginger and tea, and a good amount of pale and caramel malts. Flavor the same with a nice blend of everything. Average texture. A pretty good beer.
